Children's Books discussion

My mother shared this video, "Women Leaders Inspired by Nancy Drew", this morning - I guess because this was the first series her three daughters ever read. :)

It made me want to reread some of the books! I'll have to see what I can find at my next library visit. (The closest library is an 8 hour drive away!)

Thanks for sharing the clip. I recently got re-introduced to Nancy through my two nieces and their summer reading...so much fun. The younger of the two (who has some reading difficulties) has discovered Nancy in the Nancy Drew notebooks as well.

I think my daughter read one or two "Nancy Drew" books. There are also excellent series called American Girl MysteriesThe Stolen Sapphire A Samantha Mystery that are similar to "Nancy" books, have historical references thruoghout and are very well written.

I just listened to Laura Linney read The Mystery of the Old Clock. It was wonderful fun - trip down memory lane. Nancy is a major part growing up - I always loved that Nancy went to luncheon.

I bought a huge box of modern Nancy Drew mysteries as gifts for Christmas for my daughter and her friend, I will post what they say about the books in 2010. Right now they are totally into Nancy Drew computer/software mysteries. They have a notebook filled with clues.
