Why, Fringe Fiction authors who have published novels or plan to release them in the not-to-distant future.
That's me - what should I do with this space?
Introduce yourself to the group, inform members of upcoming releases, giveaways, sales or anything else you consider worth mentioning about your writing and career.
Awesome! Can I promote myself on multiple genre boards?
Only if you seriously, for real feel like you're such a diverse author that you're writing applies to multiple genres. If you're books are paranormal romance with a smattering of horror, then promote under paranormal not horror. If you're dystopian with some scifi tech, then promote under dystopian not scifi.
This may sound stifling or restrictive; however, I want members to be able to seek out books and authors on this site according to their reading preferences and not have to wade through authors pitching works that are categorized on technicalities. Let the horror fans seek horror, romance seek romance and so forth.
I'm not trying to ask authors to submit to labels but discourage them from alienating members by appearing on every board there is available to promote themselves upon. That said, if you have a career in scifi and romance then promote only works or events relevant to that genre. No mentioning a scifi release on a romance board or vice versa, kay?
Kay. Is this were I post my musings so others can listen to me wax poetic and/or philosophical on the writing process?
Nope. Hang a shingle, peddle your wares but don't turn this into a soapbox please.
Alright, I'll start a blog. By the way I'm a YA/NA author but don't see that board, so where do I post?
According to genre. The group would be astonishingly cluttered if I distinguished YA/NA/Adult all individually, by available genres. Just stipulate if you see yourself as more one than the others when posting.
You sure, liar? Because I saw a board specifically for MG and Children's books...
That's just separating them from the pack so those interested at books written for tween and younger readers don't have to search all over.
Likewise, there is an erotica board so readers know exactly where to look and authors can connect with a receptive audience.
What if my erotic novel is a paranormal romance/dystopian/scifi/fantasy/thriller also?
You said "erotic" - go with that. If roughly a 3rd+ of your novel is graphically depicting sexual acts please understand that might not be what readers are looking for if they're in the mood for a paranormal romance/dystopian/scifi/fantasy/thriller and advertize it appropriately.
I'm tired of reading all this, can I post something now?
Yup. Go hang your shingle and see what the group thinks of your wares.
