So two questions!
Are the cannon characters in this roleplay?
If so, what year of Hogwarts will they currently be in?

I do not as of yet know how the canon characters will be incorporated into this roleplay (we are still figuring this out). However, I can tell you that we are beginning with the first year the Golden Trio is in school.

The Cannon Character Claim was just set up, and they should be in their first year.

You should go to face claims and list a couple people whose faces you'd like to use for a character. Then you can got to character creation, where you can put in all the general info for your charries [use the accepted characters as reference]. If you want to post an incomplete character, post in the character workshop instead of in the character creation thread. This is all in the charries ;; workshop folder.

Are we able to make characters with unique Witch/Wizard gifts/abilities?
(e.g.) Animagus, Metamorphmagus, etc...

As mods we have yet to discuss this. I shall bring this up.

All you have to do to become those things is just put it in your character. There's nothing in you're way. Except, you need to sign up to be a Animagi by the Minister of Magic. Do I need to explain more?

Nope you explained it rather well. Believe me I presumed the animagi part given the Animagus Registry at the Ministry of Magic. It plays hand-in-hand with the Dept. of Magical Law Enforcement. Some Animagi aren't registered because they work against the ministry or under their nose, but most are. I would presume apart from the Marauder's: James, Sirius, and Peter...and Rita Skeeter most others are registered. James, Peter, and Sirius never registered because they learned it illegally.

You can choose yourself where you want to br sorted, just add it to your character in character creation ;)
