Min | 260 comments The plot:

A typical high-school romance with lots of drama - only it doesn't start out that way. A boy and a girl get paired up for an activity in history class that forces them into portraying a scene from Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' only with a modern twist to it. The boy will be known as a 'bad boy' and completely full of himself. The girl is the exact opposite and she resents every moment she has to rehearse the stupid assignment with him. That is until she starts to fall for him. The guy could have a dark past he never told anyone about...

You want to play the girl, right?

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
Okay, heres mine:

Name: Symphony Miller
Age: 16
Appearance: Symphony has long chest nut brown hair, it is naturally wavy and reaches to the middle of her back- much to her mothers dismay she has a single cobalt blue streak in it as well. She is quite short standing at only 5ft 2in. Her eyes are an odd shade that can be described as either blue or green depending on the lighting. In all she is a small girl, matching her quietness perfectly.

History/Personality: Symphony is known as the quiet girl at the back of the class doing everything the teacher said. This quiet image makes her an easy target for her classmates pranks and insults. After a while it started getting very stressful on her and she started self harming, she now has multiple scars on her arms and always wears jackets or long sleeves to cover them. Eventually she snapped completely and tried killing herself. She has a prominent scar on her stomach from where the knife she used went in, after this she went to therapy and now doesn't even think of doing those things anymore, but the memories will always be there for her every time she catches sight of one of her scars.

Other: is constantly writing or listening to music, these are the things that help her through tough situations now.

Min | 260 comments Name: James Harrow
Age: 17

Appearance: Average height, roughly 5ft 5in. He has short dirty blonde hair which is often messy. His eyes are a really nice light blue colour which most girls think make him attractive, despite his personality.

Personality: When in school, he doesn't think before speaking, resulting in hurting other people's feelings and doesn't really care. He and his friends enjoy pranking people (such as Symphony) and are constantly in detention. Out of school, he's not a totally bad person because of his past.

History: James has a dark history which he hasn't told anyone.

Etc: Is actually quite smart and good at sports but refuses to try.

Kk

Symphony quietly walked into class and sat in her usual spot in the corner at the back of the room. It was the best spot to get out quickly after the bell rang. She opened up her notebook to a clean page and adverted her gaze to it as more people filed into the classroom.

message 13: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments James walked into class, minutes late, like he usually did, but their teacher strangely didn't say anything. Shrugging, he sat down in the middle row, off to the side.

Symphony listened as the teacher went over the last thing they had done. She sighed, hoping they would move on to the new chapter soon.

message 15: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments ((Can you do the part where the teacher pairs them up?))

James leaned back in his chair and sighed. He didn't like this class much, he found it boring. He glanced round the room and knew pretty much everyone felt the same way.

message 16: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
((Sure))

Finally after what seemed like ages the teacher was done with the review of the last chapter and then turned to the class, "...so, with that being said the next unit will be a partner assignment. Each set of partners will portray a scene from the play you are assigned."

Symphony felt herself starting to panic when she heard the word 'partner' how was she sapost to work with someone else?

message 17: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments James processed this information and groaned. He didn't like assignments like these and working with other people. "Can we pick our own partners?" he shouted while there were murmurs around the room.

message 18: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
"No Mr. Harrow, i have already determined who will be paired together, i was about to get to that part until you rudely interrupted." She sighed and picked up her grade book and started reading off names, "...Anna and Josh...Blake and Drake....James and Symphony...Derek and Victor.." She continued down the list of names until she finished.

When Symphony heard her name called with James's she felt like running out of the room and hiding somewhere. There was no way she could work with him, no way!

message 19: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments "Symphony?" James repeated incredulously. He swiveled round in his chair and stared at her.

message 20: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
The teacher put her grade book down and picked up a stack of papers, "....okay, now what I'm handing out now is some guidelines to follow, at the top is the name of the play you have been assigned." She started walking around handing out the correct paper to the correct students.

Symphony kept her gaze down on her notebook, trying to keep herself calm, it wouldn't be that bad, right. she sighed when her paper was set in front of her, she waited a minute before turning it over. When she did, her eyes widened a bit. At the top of the paper in italicized letters was the words: Romeo and Juliette. How could this assignment get any worse?

message 21: by Min (last edited Mar 16, 2014 11:35PM) (new)

Min | 260 comments James watched Symphony read the name of their assignment and sigh. He bit his lip, knowing that it was probably pretty bad...Eventually, he got up and pulled up a chair near her desk. "What is it?" he asked irritably. He snatched the paper and quickly read it - "Are you serious?" he demanded. "How are we supposed to do this?"

message 22: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
Symphony just shrugged and kept her gaze down, not saying a word. She didn't trust herself to look up at him, she knew if she did then she would end up bolting.

message 23: by Min (last edited Mar 17, 2014 11:39PM) (new)

Min | 260 comments "Speak up, won't you?" James muttered in annoyance. I have a partner that won't say anything to me and we have an almost impossible task, he thought. He ran his fingers through his hair and murmured, "If I wasn't already doing so badly in this class, I would put up a bigger fight."

message 24: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
Symphony bit her lip, slightly sinking lower in her seat just wanting to disappear. so it begins she thinks to herself, still not saying a word. There was no way she could do this project, it was impossible. Why did the teacher even pair them up for this anyway?

message 25: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments "And we have to do the scene where they meet each other at the party," James read the sheet. "What the-" I can't do this.
Right then, the bell rang, cutting off their thoughts. "We'll work more on this tomorrow," the teacher chirped cheerfully. "You are dismissed."
James abruptly stood up, found his bag and stomped out not bothering to say a word to Symphony. If she wasn't going to say anything to him, then he wouldn't say anything to her.

message 26: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
Symphony quickly gathered her things and quietly walked out of the classroom. She could only imagine how horrible this project would end up being.

message 27: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments ((Skip to the next day?))

As James was walking to his next class, one of his friends asked, "Who was your partner for the assignment?".
"Symphony," he muttered.
"Oh," his friend laughed. "Lucky you."
"Shut up," James scowled angrily. "It's just for one stupid assignment."

message 28: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
((Yep))

~next day~
Symphony grabbed her textbook from her locker reluctantly. She didn't want to go to class but she had no choice. For a split second she thought about faking sick to go home, but that would ruin her attendance record quickly. So instead she closed her locker and started to trudge her way to class.

message 29: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments James didn't bother getting his books - he knew he didn't need them and couldn't be bothered. He was at the opposite end of the corridor of the class, so he walked slowly, hoping to be late.

Symphony walked into class only a couple minutes before the bell rang. She took her seat in the back corner, as usual. "....another day of hell" she murmured to herself under her breath.

message 31: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments James walked in late and received a scolding from the teacher, but no detention. Strange. Oh, I get it. She doesn't want me in detention so I'll work with Symphony after school. He dragged a chair over to her table and said, "Well? Are you going to say something to me this time?"

message 32: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
She bit her lip to keep herself calm. She shrugged, keeping her gaze on the desk. "....what all do we have to do for this dumb thing anyway." She murmurs.

message 33: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments "We've got this lesson, anytime after school and we have to perform it during our next class," James frowned and folded his arms. "I really don't know how we can do this - I mean, I'm supposed to kiss you in this scene. Trust me, the feeling between us is mutual." He didn't mean to insult her or anything, his mouth just worked faster than his mind sometimes.

message 34: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
She nodded, still not looking up. She knew if she looked at him then she would want to run even more than she did now, at least without looking at him she could try and pretend he was someone else. That was kind of hard to do though considering everything...

message 35: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments James groaned. Now she was back to communicating telepathically. He went to the front of the class and got a copy of the play and flipped randomly though it, eventually pushing it over to Symphony.

message 36: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
Symphony sighed and flipped through it, even though she already knew what all was there. "...why couldn't we of got a good scene, like when they kill themselves and end the torture of this stupid thing." She muttered under her breath.

message 37: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments "Yeah..." James murmured uncomfortably. "I don't know about you, but I really need to get a good grade in this class. Usually I wouldn't care about stuff like this but I don't want to go to summer school, okay? So can we try and cooperate?" He looked deep into Symphony's greenish-blue eyes.

message 38: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
She sighed before nodding, "....yeah, if i get a bad grade on this my mom will kill me...." She leaned back in her chair, keeping her arms crossed.

message 39: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments James nodded unenthusiastically and stood up. He picked up the book and began reciting some lines dully and passed it to Symphony. "How does this even relate to history, anyway? I don't get it. Our teacher has some weird ideas..."

message 40: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
Symphony sighed, "....well since we just sort of learned about Shakespeare I guess she thought it would be good for us to be familiar with one of his greatest works." She shrugged, "....but who knows, after all she does sometimes wear christmas sweaters in July." She sighed before reading over the lines dully.

message 41: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments James laughed and little, then continued on with his lines. When he passed the book back to Symphony, she kept her head down and he found himself studying her. Her hair was really nice and he liked the unique blue stripe in it. When she finally looked up, he quickly diverted his gaze.

message 42: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
Finally, after what seemed like ages, the scene ended with Romeo and Juliet parting ways and Romeo finding out Juliet was a Capulet. Symphony sighed and set the book down, "....so the dialog doesn't seem too hard, and frankly no one will care about that or notice anyway if we screw it up..."

message 43: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments "Let's just recite the whole thing and leave out the actions," James said quickly. "Maybe we can...do an explanation to pass time."

message 44: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
She nods, "....yeah....that might work."

message 45: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments "Okay then," he nodded. "And we're going to have to be more 'enthusiastic'." He air-quoted when he saw the teacher wandering around and telling that to other pairs.

message 46: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
Symphony sighed, "....ugh, how are you sapost to sound enthusiastic when Your anything but.....i guess ill try though." She murmured.

message 47: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments The teacher came by and listened to them reciting a few lines. She frowned. "Your dialogue is fine, but you sound like...you're bored out of your mind. Try and sound a bit more energetic." Truth? I am bored out of my mind, James thought, rolling his eyes.

message 48: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
Symphony sighed and tried to think of how that would even be possible. There was no way to be more enthusiastic when all she wanted to do was walk out on this project.

message 49: by Min (new)

Min | 260 comments "Sure, we will," James said with mock sincerity, clenching his fists behind his back. He'd had enough with this stupid assignment.

message 50: by Lynn, sparkles....sparkles everywhere (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2631 comments Mod
Symphony took a deep breath, if it was enthusiasm she wanted then fine, she would give her enthusiasm. She stated the next line loud and over dramatically, almost making it sound like a mockery to it.
