P Maurer | 4 comments I am returning to Audible.com after a couple of years off. I am surprised with the new app and format that I can't tell how much total time has elapsed when listening to a book. Am I missing something? I have tried to find this both on my Android phone and on my iPad. Thanks for any insight.

Verena (pidgeon92) | 60 comments Do you mean (a) total time elapsed for the book so far, or (b) the time spent listening in the most recent listening session?

a. Is displayed only per chapter, and can be seen at the top of the app.

b. Isn't available. I suppose you could set a bookmark when you stop, and use that to calculate elapsed time.

I don't care for the Audible app at all. I use a different, more feature-rich app for audiobooks, that unfortunately requires me to "liberate" the audiobooks, but the time spent liberating the books is well spent to get the extra features of my favored app.

P Maurer | 4 comments Thank you. I was looking for total time elapsed. Since the book has 185 chapters, it's hard to keep track of my progress time wise. I will have to look into the "liberate" concept and other apps.

Dee (austhokie) | 1948 comments if you use audible, I just use the time remaining for each part as my guide...i.e. if part 1 is 8 hours and you've listened to 3, then you have 5 hours left...I don't remember audible ever having total time elapsed/remaining as a feature and i've been using the app for close to 4 years now

Sandi (sandikal) | 420 comments I'm not sure if the iOS app works the same as the Android one. For Android, there are two ways to track elapsed time. First, from the app, just look at the book on your library list. Or, you can put the 2 x 4 widget on your screen. I like using the widget because I can control the book without opening the app. I have to pause a lot, so the widget is a lifesaver.

P Maurer | 4 comments I became a member of Audible in 2004 and things have changed considerably for the better. But, I do miss the elapsed time feature. Since I'm doing most of my listening on my Android phone, I will try the 2 x 4 widget. This book, The Goldfinch, is complicated time wise due to the way it is divided. While the narrator will say "chapter 27", it will show up as chapter 75 on my Android app. Thanks for all your ideas.

Kerry (geniusscientist) | 24 comments As Sandi said, you can see the total elapsed time on the "My Library" screen of the Android app. It's the screen that appears when you open the app. To get to it from the "Now Playing" screen, just hit the little Audible icon to the left of "Now Playing."

P Maurer | 4 comments Thank you. The above comments worked. It is especially easy for me to access it through the Audible icon on the "Now Playing" screen. This makes my listening a lot easier.
