Review Group discussion

In joining this group you have agreed TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK within the set 12 week limit.
If you don’t agree to that tell me now so that I can find another member who will do so.
This is a ‘clean’ group ie absolutely NO explicit sex, NO violence. If you enter your book in this group and it contravenes the ‘clean’ criteria, the other members will be able to provide evidence of the contravention to the group moderator, in the form of the offending passage(s), and if the group moderator agrees there has been a contravention the members will not be penalised for not giving a review. The contravening member will still be expected to give their 4 reviews.
Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate genre preference. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:

Since I am new to this group and trying to figure out how it works, I have a couple of questions.
I consider my book clean...there is absolutely no explicit sex, only the mildest language (an occasional damn or hell). I don't want to violate the rules on violence and don't think my book would but there are some instances of vandalism and a gun being pointed at someone but nothing past that. Okay for the group?

Next, a procedural question on how to post a review on amazon uk. With amazon.com you need to have an account and to have made a purchase (not necessarily the item you're reviewing, however) in order to write a review. Is the same the case with uk or is there a way around this? I don't have an account on amazon uk.

I'd think your book is fine for this group Margaret.
As I'm in the uk, I assume its them same when I post reviews on other sites other than my home one. I can post reviews on .ca and .com without a problem. I simply use the button on the book page and go directly to the amazon page I require and leave a review.

Emma, hi, wanted to check - is it possible to jump in here? Am in G73, frankly 'Epic Round' will take a long time to fly and with 5 new rounds in, I would like to get fresh reviews for The Governess. Have reviewed Hank TJoa and G. J. Griffiths work and K.S. Ferguson reviewed my novel 'the governess' so I can send her the other book. Let me know if it suits up. if you would be happy for someone under 16 to read it, I'd think it would be fine Marie-Jo.
By graphic sexual scenes I mean no tab A inserted into slot B, type scenes with graphic descriptions of body parts that you would not want your granny to read.
if you were discussing violence, I'd say a fist fight was fine, but guts being spread around or squirting blood would hit the 'graphic' alarm bells.
The odd swear word is fine but constant ****ing and ****ing would be a problem.
I'm afraid I can't be more specific than that as I'm not the best person to decide what others might find offensive as I write significantly graphic material.

Jai, you are welcome to contact the authors for review copies if you wish (I'm sure they'll be delighted) but unless your book is published, you can't officially 'join'.

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

You have the next week to exchange your book files. My advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum). Sorry for late response but I've been out of "circulation" for a while. Two points: 1.Yes I have reviewed Diana Febry's book before and 2.Hock is probably tired of my books, since he has reviewed 3 of them to date!
