Ann (annrumsey) | 16933 comments I'm not sure about the context of your question, Gail.
Do you mean on a Kindle?

Shomeret | 1490 comments I think that Gail means search terms on Amazon. It's been so long since I actually searched Amazon for books. Nowadays I only go to Amazon when I already know what I'm looking for. I find books on Goodreads. My friends are adding books that look interesting, people on my groups are talking about books that I also want to read or there are interesting books on a GR book page that I was looking at.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16933 comments ok, thanks for clarifying Gail!
I see what you mean. It sounds like you are looking for the most effective way to market a new book.
I don't search like that on Amazon with keywords. I get so many suggestions when I visit Amazon (based on my purchases as well as searches I imagine) and from Goodreads clamoring to suggest books based on my history that I don't need to search by a general keyword. I usually search by author or title or series name.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16933 comments I do not always due to time, but I will scroll through an email of new bargain e-books books on occasion - though I usually never buy those.
I do look for lower priced e-books; however I am usually looking to fill in on a series where not all of the books are available at the library Overdrive site, or when I see a good Whispersync price on a tempting audio book on Audible.

I receive many e-mails about free and bargain priced e-books and I scroll through all of them every day. I rarely see anything I want but I always look through anyway because I never know when I might find something.

Amy | 1346 comments Every week I get email from Overdrive, but any book I want, I'm told
that it is not available in my area.

I almost NEVER search for e-books. I get e-mails with free and cheap listings from a couple of places daily. Occasionally I'll find something that I'm interested in there. If I buy e-books it's usually something that comes up on a suggestion from Amazon or I've seen something about somewhere else and specifically look for it. I'm not a fan of e-books, though I have 2 Kindle Fires. It takes me forever to read an e-book. Use the Kindle more for magazines.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16933 comments Gail: That makes sense for the question, and seems steep for the author's to pay big bucks to be on a free books list.
When I see a looooong list of books to scroll through I tend to go in a bit but not too deep. Even when the Kindle First offering went from 'four to select one' to 'six to select one' I grumbled a bit. That seems silly but it is true, I don't have time to read a lot of book descriptions on my phone which is where I usually read my email.
I have so many books I already want to read, and so many bargain books are ok but not gems, so I tend to go with the recommended books I can get free from the library for my Kindle instead.
Gail wrote: "I think that's why I search for Ebooks for .99... That way an author gets something but I'm not diving into my budget to pay for a book. It's just that some search catagories pull up 400 pages of Ebooks... Too much to search through... Thus my initial question! "
