What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

The book starts out in France with an old man and boy and a parrot who wind up going to Brazil(?) on the hunt for an amazing library. I remember that the book is really about the history of mathematics. And I loved it and gave it away to a friend but I would like to read it again.

I did a search on worldcat and came up with "The Parrot's Theorem" By Denis Guedj. Hope that helps.

I take it back. That is it! I found a stub on Wikipedia that gave more of the plot and then I remembered it. The author's name still doesn't ring a bell, but that's the book!
