ONLY TIME WILL TELL Read-a-Long > Question about Posting Spoilers in Comments

Nada (njmom3) The Only Time Will Tell Read-a-Long is the first GoodReads read-a-long I have taken part in. So, I have a general question.

For each of the chapter discussions, I have tried to limit my comments to what happens in those chapters or what came before. Unfortunately, I just read a spoiler in some of the comments - references to what happens well after the chapters in discussion. Is there a protocol for not posting spoilers in the discussion or for clearly marking spoilers so that those who wish to avoid it can?

I would appreciate any input. Thanks.

Hi Nada,

Whenever someone is writing something that contains a spoiler, they are supposed to use the spoiler html code found in the link that says (some html is okay).

It will apprear like this: (view spoiler)

That way, Goodreads will automatically hide that section unless you click to read. Hopefully others will practice this!

Thanks for posting!

Sheryl | 8 comments Thanks for this thread. This is my first time in a Goodreads group. I like the idea that the discussions are segmented so readers can participate in the sections they have read. However, I have come across some spoiler land mines in general comments and other places, which is really irritating. I know people do this unintentionally, but it would be nice if folks could use the spoiler protocol. I am not sure whether I want to participate in other groups until I have finished books.
