I loved that book (The Jungle). It's really poignant. I had to work on it and to compare it with Jack London's People of the Abyss.

I loved both. What's interesting in Jack London's story is his own experience of poverty and homelessness. He added photos of his walks in London. Even some are clearly retouched, his work is still really interesting, his involment and analysis.

message 382: by Marisa (new)

Marisa Parker i liked the movie Life of Pi - great cinematography. It would be interesting to know how close to the book it follows the storyline.

It's a post-apocalyptic novel that manages to be simultaneously depressing and beautiful.
