Karsyn (imzadi) Current Goals & who's covering them

~ Read a book with the word aggregate in the text (jingles)
~ Read a book shelved (first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as 2000 (Kerri)
~ Read a book where the page numbers add to 21 (i.e. 345 pages = 3+4+5 = 12) M
~ Read a book with a holiday theme (e.g. summer holidays, Christmas...) (Karsyn)
~ Read a book that is in the "The Worst Books of All Time" Listopia List (Michelle)

Also, I found this. These are the page numbers we need to look for to add up to 21 ~

{3, 9, 9}, {4, 8, 9}, {4, 9, 8}, {5, 7, 9}, {5, 8, 8}, {5, 9, 7}, {6, 6, 9}, {6, 7, 8}, {6, 8, 7}, {6, 9, 6}, {7, 5, 9}, {7, 6, 8}, {7, 7, 7}, {7, 8, 6}, {7, 9, 5}, {8, 4, 9}, {8, 5, 8}, {8, 6, 7}, {8, 7,6}, {8, 8, 5}, {8, 9, 4}, {9, 3, 9}, {9, 4, 8}, {9, 5, 7}, {9, 6, 6}, {9, 7, 5}, {9, 8, 4}, {9, 9, 3}

Woo Hoo!! I got this one. It is a chunky, but I should have it finished in a couple of days

Awesome! No worries on the few days. I'm gonna start Winter here in a few days, so that'll be my chunkster of TT.

Michelle V (booksherlocked) | 58 comments I just finished Fallen which counts as a 40 points book.

message 605: by Michelle (new)

Michelle V (booksherlocked) | 58 comments Can we read multiple times a BOTM, I see many people in the group having botm points?

message 606: by Jen (new)

Jen Sabo | 547 comments You can read all three books of the month and you get 20 points if you read the book and chat about it.

message 607: by Karsyn (last edited Nov 20, 2015 06:14AM) (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Morning y'all! Had the BEST night of sleep since the puppy got here. Only had to take her out ONCE during the night!! Then my Hubby took her out when He got up, so I got to stay in bed a bit longer. If it weren't for my own issues falling back asleep, I would have slept sooooooo well last night. It was nice. :)

Thanks for answering Michelle's question, Jen. Yes, you can read all of the current BOM and if you participate (answer the questions) then you get the bonus points too.

message 608: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Michelle ~ you'll need to add a date read to Fallen, I can't use it for the goals until it's marked as read. :/

message 609: by Michelle (new)

Michelle V (booksherlocked) | 58 comments I fixed that, thank you and sorry for the inconvenience Kar.

By the way, who do we have as a writer for the questions of the new bom that starts on the 22nd?

message 610: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Michelle wrote: "I fixed that, thank you and sorry for the inconvenience Kar.

Thanks! :)

The mods randomly pick the question writers. So far none of us have done any questions, I don't know if anyone's signed up for questions or if we're just answering.

If you want to sign up to write the questions, you do it in that BOM thread, and then the mods pick by random. It looks like they have all their question writers set for that one.

Karsyn (imzadi) New Goal

~ Read a book that has been on your "to read" shelf for more than 2 years

I'm sure someone has this covered? Anyone already read one that was on your TBR forever?

So sorry that you are sick, M. That sucks. :( But yay for reading! :D

message 613: by Vikki (new)

Vikki | 419 comments Good morning everyone

Karsyn-- glad you got some sleep! I am a cat person myself but my husband wanted a dog so we got a chocolate lab from the shelter. I feel like it was sort of a practice run for having kids at first. Dogs are definitely more work than cats but I feel like I have a closer relationship with my dog than the cats now. I still miss being able to being gone all day and not worry about the possible surprise waiting for me when I get home.

M-- I woke up with the sick last Saturday and sleeping most of the weekend helped. Hope you feel better.

Michelle-- a few of us have signed up to do BOM questions so if you volunteer for some too, maybe Anubis will have a better chance of getting chosen. It would also be nice to have a backup person if one of us gets chosen and then they get sick, family emergency, etc.

message 614: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) We went to the shelter too, for our pitbull. I like both dogs and cats for their own reasons, but I'm more of a dog person. You don't do crates for your dog? We do the whole crate training thing, so no surprises if we go out (which we rarely do). Of course there was the one time that she got OUT of her crate (still don't know how she managed to do it!). After that, we bought hose clamps at the auto store, no issues since. :) Puppy has her crate now as well. When we FINALLY get to go out in a few weeks, the puppy is bound to flip out, but at least she'll be contained! :)

message 615: by Vikki (new)

Vikki | 419 comments We only crate her if we know maintenance is going to stop by the apartment when we are gone. Or if she is sick or we have to leave food out. We did the crate when we first got her but we both have jobs where we could be gone 10+ hours and it felt cruel to leave her in the crate when we were gone for so long especially since she is a large dog. And her whining from the crate was annoying our neighbors. My husband and I work different shifts now so she is usually not alone for more than 2-3 hours.

message 616: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Ahhhh, that makes sense. That would be a long time for her to be in there. I rarely leave the house, so the longest ours is usualy in there is just during the night. She did get to sleep out here in the living room for a while but then we had cats in and out so she went back in the crate. Now both dogs are put away at night, otherwise it would be PLAY time. :)

Our pit has only been alone for about 8-9 hours once when I helped a friend move. Otherwise, I'm usually always here, and if I do go walk around town, it's usually just for a few hours. We'll see what happens when we go out soon. We'll probably be gone 5 or so hours. I'm sure it'll be loud, but we don't care about that for our neighbors. We live in a duplex and they NEVER take us into consideration, so if our animals are loud once, they can deal with it. LOL!

Deedee | 626 comments ~ Read a book that has been on your "to read" shelf for more than 2 years

Both the books I'm reading I added to my TBR in 2010:
The Court of the Air (Jackelian #1) (2007) by Stephen Hunt
and
Tarzan of the Apes (Tarzan #1) (1912) by Edgar Rice Burroughs

Awesome Deedee. If no one has already finished one they had on their TBR for 2+ years, we'll use whatever one you finish first.

message 619: by jingles (new)

jingles Karsyn, my Fall of Giants book should work for the 2 year TBR. I added it to my TBR Feb 23, 2013. It's the big one I finished recently.

message 620: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Awesome jingles! We'll use that. Be back with new one!

Karsyn (imzadi) New Goal

~ Read a book with fruit on the cover

I have one I can read for this, if no one else is. It'll fit another challenge, so it works out. I'll be starting it later tonight or tomorrow. But will take 1st done if anyone is reading anything with it before then.

message 622: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) New Goal

~ Read a book that has the birthstone "Emerald" in the text or title

Filled 4 before I got to this one. :) I'm sure someone has it in the books they've read already? I had it in my last one, but I used it for the holiday goal. :/

message 623: by Vikki (new)

Vikki | 419 comments Emerald is in Six of Crows which is in the next BOM so if there is no current books with it, there are a couple of us doing the BOM

Karsyn (imzadi) Victoria wrote: "Emerald is in Six of Crows which is in the next BOM so if there is no current books with it, there are a couple of us doing the BOM"

Awesome, I'll keep it in mind if nothing pops up before then. It's also in my current audiobook, but since I'm not getting much sleep and falling asleep quicker cuz I'm so tired, I've only gotten through 15% of it so far. After my fruit one for my other challenge, perhaps I'll listen a day and get it done with sooner than later.

Got it!!

Harvesting the Heart was all about emeralds, at least it felt that way when reading it, the female has green eyes and we never forget it!

"Tumbling, clover like, emeralds." 297
"Only her eyes were that emerald green"239
"I ran my fingers over the smooth cover, hoping for pearls or emeralds" 17

There are 4 others, but I will just stick with that! (:

message 626: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Awesome Jen! I saw this last night as I was heading to bed. :) I'll mark it soon and be back with new goals.

Karsyn (imzadi) New Goal

~ Read a book which is set in a circus

if no one has it or starts anything soon, I suppose I could be talked into a re-read of my most FAVORITE book ever ~ The Night Circus. :) hmmmm, might just do that tonight, unless something already read covers it?

message 628: by Michelle (new)

Michelle V (booksherlocked) | 58 comments I just finished reading Playing James. I will now read a book that I finally bought yesterday... The Three Musketeers. I'm so looking for to read this classic. ❤

I loved the Night Circus, but I read too recently to reread. So good.

I also was really into Water For Elephants, so if I can get my hands on a copy I could reread that.

message 630: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Hi guys I am so inundated with my team and solo challenges. I don't know where to turn. Hopefully my books will fit in here somewhere.

message 631: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) No worries Maritza. We're covering our goals pretty well! Just read bunches, and they will fit in somewhere! :D

It was sometime last year since I last re-read The Night Circus, so I'll be glad to go back to it. Almost named the puppy "Poppet", but decided to stick with our Kingdom Hearts theme instead and went with Sora. :) My gaming PC's name is Widget, so if I get a new laptop, I think I'll name it Poppet. :)

Karsyn (imzadi) New Goal

~ Read a book with the phrase "to all intents and purposes" in a book

message 634: by Michelle (new)

Michelle V (booksherlocked) | 58 comments Finished Unzipped

message 635: by Michelle (new)

Michelle V (booksherlocked) | 58 comments I tried looking for that phrase but I mostly got law papers besides a book about cameras (I couldn't find it in kindle) and a book about the stars at night(which had a cost of $25)... but I think I read that it might be on a Shakespeare's book.

message 636: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Good afternoon all! Everyone's quiet today. What do y'all have going on for this Sunday?

I've been around, doing some stuff with spreadsheets and helping move around some people into different teams. No reading for me so far today, but it's Sunday, so no reading anyways. :)

I started Night Circus last night for the circus goal. It'll take a few days, though I plan on listening during the day as well, so I can get through it quicker. How's everyone else doing on the current goals?

message 637: by Kerri (new)

Kerri (kerrimcbooknerd) | 1200 comments Digging in to AHWOSG. I'm reading the current BOM, as well, so I probably won't get through as quickly, but it shouldn't take more than a couple days :)

Karsyn (imzadi) Current Goals

~ Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as 2000 (Kerri)
~ Read a book which is set in a circus (Karsyn)
~ Read a book where the edition you are reading was published on the 5th of a month (Michelle)
~ Read a book with the phrase "to all intents and purposes" in a book
~ Read a book with the word highway, road, avenue or street (plurals are acceptable) in the title

message 639: by Michelle (new)

Michelle V (booksherlocked) | 58 comments I can read A Court of Thorns and Roses which was published a 5th.
I answered the BOTM that started today.

•♥•Tina•♥• I hope everyone is doing well! Sorry I haven't checked in much this weekend, things have been crazy! Trying to start a book tonight I don't think I have one that has that saying in it though for the last goal, I will keep my eye out though.

message 641: by James (new)

James | 28 comments Another week, another book. Hopefully, once finals and black Friday (I work retail) are over, I can increase that number.

message 642: by jingles (new)

jingles Good morning, team! I finally finished my book for the "aggregate" goal, and I posted it in the Books Read thread.

It's been very busy at work and at home, so I apologize for being somewhat MIA.

message 643: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Awesome jingles! Can you put it on your TT shelf when you get a chance? Then I can get us a new goal. :)

No worries about being busy, it'll be a busy time of year for most. Just do what you can and we'll keep doing great!

message 644: by jingles (new)

jingles Oops! Got it on there now :)

Was only able to fill 2 in, before getting this one. :(

message 647: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Victoria, you still with us? I was hoping the "to intents and purposes" goal might be something that was in one of your plays you read?

message 648: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) How's everyone doing today?

I'm getting some reading in this morning. It's not my goal book, but my Kindle book I've been reading it seems like forever. :/ I started it on audio and didn't like it, so I switched to reading it on my kindle. It's a little better but I just wanna get done. I'm 55% through it so I hope to finish it up today, and move onto something better!

message 649: by Jen (new)

Jen Sabo | 547 comments I have slowed a little on reading. I have an exam tomorrow that I have been studying for.

It was a slow weekend but I'm hoping to finish a book later today.

message 650: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Good luck on the exam Jen! I hope you do great! And no worries about slowing some, like I said, everyone will have their busy times, especially with the holidays coming up as well. Just read what you can, and have fun while doing it! :)
