Karsyn (imzadi) Woooohoooo! I got my wireless keyboard today, 2 days before I expected it. I thought it might come tomorrow, so today is a surprise!

Forgive any typos, if I miss any. The keyboard is smaller than I'm used to, so I'm having a heck of a time typing right now. I'll get used to it though. Do love it already, otherwise! :D

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments @ Jenn - Good Luck.
hi everyone. Well I did it again I joined another team challenge (I think i'm addicted0. Still trying to finish one book for my other challenges by tonight and hope to work on some of our goals.

message 653: by Vikki (new)

Vikki | 419 comments Morning everyone! It has been busy getting ready for the holiday. I am flying back to Ohio Wed so this week might be hard to communicate since it will just be by phone. I looked at all my books and none of them fit the goals yet.

message 654: by Karsyn (last edited Nov 23, 2015 10:24AM) (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) It can be hard to stay away from the challenges sometimes, Maritza. :) But if you are having fun, that's what matters.

Thanks for looking, Victoria. I was hoping that "intent" one might be one you could find. That one stinks! :/

Anyone have anything for the street/road one? I can't think of anything off the top of my head, gonna go look through my shelves. I hope we get a string of easier ones soon, these ones lately have been difficult.

I have a 1 street, and 1 road I haven't read before. I may just dip into my Trixie Belden's and re-read one of the two with "road" from it. It'd be a quick read, and I haven't re-read them in years.

message 655: by jingles (new)

jingles I used to love Trixie Belden!!!

message 656: by Kerri (new)

Kerri (kerrimcbooknerd) | 1200 comments Good afternoon, everyone!

@Jen - Good luck on your exams!
@Karsyn - Yay for a new keyboard :D

The whole family (except me) was sick at one point or another last week, so I spent a lot of time playing nurse. Everyone seems to be feeling better and I seem to have avoided it, so hopefully I can concentrate on my books more this week!

message 657: by Vikki (new)

Vikki | 419 comments I have a road audiobook that I can do.

message 658: by Vikki (new)

Vikki | 419 comments I'll keep searching for that phrase in my kindle books but no luck so far

Karsyn (imzadi) New Goal

~ Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as christian

any religious folk? Sorry. Can't help out with this one.

I was able to fill 4 goals before we got this one. :)

message 660: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) So great you know Trixie, jingles. I always enjoy finding out others who read the series. I've always liked the books, and I collect them. I had all of them before some moves, and a "friend" held on to them but then got rid of them when I asked for them back. :( But I'm back up to about a 3rd of them. I pick one up no matter when I see it, so I have some doubles as well.

So glad you didn't get sick, Kerri! Hope it stays that way for you. We keep worrying about the bug that's going around my Hubby's work, but so far He's warded it off.

Have at the road one, Victoria, if you want to do it, or I can if you prefer something else. I've had no luck finding the phrase either. It'll probably end up being the one we use the boon for in 2 weeks.

message 661: by Karsyn (last edited Nov 23, 2015 04:28PM) (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Current Goals

~ Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as 2000 (Kerri)
~ Read a book which is set in a circus (Karsyn)
~ Read a book with the phrase "to all intents and purposes" in a book
~ Read a book with the word highway, road, avenue or street in the title (Victoria) or Karsyn
~ Read a book shelved (listed on "top shelves") as christian (Michelle)

message 662: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments okay have been trying to figure this out . how do you look search for phrases outside of using a kindle.

message 663: by Karsyn (last edited Nov 23, 2015 03:03PM) (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Someone, at some point, mentioned using Google Books to search. I don't know how well that works.... I'll go check it out.

I didn't find anything at Google but law books, so far. But Tea said both Chainfire & Sense and Sensibility have the phrase, of our one goal, in it.

message 664: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Well, if Victoria is taking the road goal, I think I'm gonna go ahead and start my mammoth book. It's time for Winter. :) It's gonna take me a few days.

message 665: by Michelle (new)

Michelle V (booksherlocked) | 58 comments ooooh I can do the Christian challenge. I love those books.

message 666: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Thanks Michelle. Glad you can take it on.

message 667: by Michelle (new)

Michelle V (booksherlocked) | 58 comments How top shelves? Does it mean when you enter listopia and the most popular book lists? or when you read the information the book includes and it says "Lists with this book"?

message 668: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Michelle wrote: "How top shelves? Does it mean when you enter listopia and the most popular book lists? or when you read the information the book includes and it says "Lists with this book"?"

Neither.

What you need to do is find a book you think fits the goal. When you are looking at the book, over to the right are the "genres". It needs to say christian there, or you can click there "see top shelves" link. It has to be on that page only, not any others that might be there.

Make sense?

Michelle V (booksherlocked) | 58 comments Karsyn wrote: "Michelle wrote: "How top shelves? Does it mean when you enter listopia and the most popular book lists? or when you read the information the book includes and it says "Lists with this book"?"

Neit..."

Yes. Thank you. So I found this book Waterfall that I had once bought in my obsession with historical romance (thanks God it was just a phase) and it fits perfectly with that goal.

message 670: by Jen (new)

Jen Sabo | 547 comments Okay, so for finding phrases, you can look at the amazon books in the look inside feature, google the book as a pdf, or google "I books (title). There is a loksise feature for iBooks but won't show you all the pages so it might miss it.

message 671: by Vikki (new)

Vikki | 419 comments For "to all intents and purposes":

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) by J.K. Rowling p206

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson p 95

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield p 58

still looking....

message 672: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Awesome Victoria. I suppose I can start Deathly Hallows after Night Circus. I had been doing a 3rd re-read listening to Stephen Fry this time. I think I needed to hit Half Blood first, but I could always skip ahead. Not like I haven't read them a bunch of times already. :)

message 674: by Vikki (last edited Nov 23, 2015 05:44PM) (new)

Vikki | 419 comments Nevermind, M read The Red Knight by Miles Cameron and it has Page 100 : ... I will be the king, to all intents and purposes.” “The angel has ...

So "to all intents and purposes" goal complete unless we used this book for a different goal

message 675: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) I don't think we've used it. You rock Victoria!! Woohooo. So glad to be done with that one. Watch us get it again. :)

message 676: by Vikki (new)

Vikki | 419 comments Well, now we have a list of books to choose from, just in case. That was a hard goal. All the books I was finding at first had "for all intents and purposes" instead of "to."

message 677: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) I thought it was "for" as well. So the "to" was definitely different. Glad you found so much!

We got another published date, I'm going through the ones we haven't put dates on yet to see if it's anywhere, so far, it's not (of course). :/

message 678: by jingles (new)

jingles Oops! I may have missed it. Are we supposed to include the publication date in our completed posts. I haven't been doing that, but will start.

message 679: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) jingles wrote: "Oops! I may have missed it. Are we supposed to include the publication date in our completed posts. I haven't been doing that, but will start."

I didn't ask for it initially, so it's ok jingles. Cristina and I have just been grabbing them as we go. If you want to add it, just cuz we're getting so many published dates, it'd be great. If not, no worries, I just hadn't added them in a few days.

Karsyn (imzadi) New Goal

~ Read a book where the edition you are reading was published on the 11th of a month

------

Headed to bed, so I'll do anything with it tomorrow (didn't see any, but could have missed something) and add in the missing pages in the morning.

message 681: by M (new)

M Beal | 1680 comments If the "intents and purposes" goal comes up again I have Blood of Elves that I can pick up. Glad to get that one done.

message 682: by M (new)

M Beal | 1680 comments Read a book where the edition you are reading was published on the 11th of a month

I found one for this, will start it after breakfast.

•♥•Tina•♥• The book I just finished, Lev, was actually published on the 11th and I didn't even realize it. So we can use that one if you want!

message 684: by Jen (new)

Jen Sabo | 547 comments Finally finished a book. I'm going to keep reading series, I tend to do them faster. Though the Lying Game series was really fun, I think I need a break from the teen drama type.

Anyway, hoping to finish the next in the series in the next couple days.

message 685: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Awesome Cristina, great about the book on the 11th. You can skip yours, M, if you wanna, or do it so we have another one. Today I had planned on listing the dates we don't have, in case anyone wanted to be on the look out for the missing dates. :)

I love series as well, Jen. Patterson is an easy read as well. I read a lot of the Alex Cross. I think I gave up on them around book 11, I just got tired of them. I still read his Michael Bennett series and books he does with Chris Grabenstein or Marshall Karp.

Be back soon with a new goal. :)

It was used. We had a goal for Judgement in title. :)

M Beal | 1680 comments Ok, I have been trying to keep track of which books I have read have been used. Missed that one. The book I am currently reading was published on the 11th. I will have it done by tonight.

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments good morning guys. all of my books i'm reading were published on the 15th of the month. finally catching up on library books which are due soon. will try to work on goals.

message 692: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Sorry y'all, for the confusion. The goal for the 11th is covered. All goals for published dates so far are covered. I was just listing dates that we could cover again, just if y'all wanted to keep an eye out, for if we had any future dates again. It wasn't a big deal, just thought I'd mention it. So sorry for the confusion.

message 694: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Speaking of "intents and purposes", it's in the Night Circus ~ but with "all" instead of "to". :)

The Night Circus also contains main of the tarot card names, if anyone is interested in reading it.

Good to know! There's some crazy goals. We had been good about covering multiple ones at a time each time. Lately we've only been able to do one at a time.

message 698: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments i was reading a book about a trucker would that work, have to find the title i put it down to finish the library book i have but will try to work harder on goals.

message 700: by James (last edited Nov 25, 2015 12:36AM) (new)

James | 28 comments Quick question, since I'm almost finished with another book. Do I go with the total page numbers in the edition of the book I physically have and read or do I go with the one provided by goodreads. It's between 185 pages and 160 pages, which is a difference between 5 or 20 points. The Island of Dr. Moreau -this is the book.
