This thread will be dedicated to any ideas we have for new challenges. If you have any ideas, let's hear em!

If you all liked the Halloween challenge, would you like to do another similar one for Christmas?

Christmas would be fun.
Last year I did a creature challenge, we read a lot of supernatural books on here it could be fun to put one together for next year?

Read five books that include creatures in any or all of the below categories. You can try for all 14 categories, or just pick a few, or even make up your own category.

◆Creatures do not have to be the main character, simply play some role in the story.
◆Each book may be used only once. If multiple creatures are present, you have to decide which category to place it under (but you can always change it later).
◆You may change your list at any time.

Duration of challenge: January 1 – December 31, 2014

Aliens

Angels
Fae/Elves

Psychics/Mediums/Telepaths

I also liked the 26 challenge. though I may come up one book short on it. I haven't read a book I was suppose to read in high school

That could be fun! We can start the topic now to get us all prepared for it. Do you mind if I copy your rules and everything into the topic?

Also, would you want a similar one to the 26 book challenge in addition? Though we can make this one like a 12 book challenge, one per each month maybe (you can read them at any time though, of course).

What do you guys think about a March Madness challenge? I've been thinking about it all day and it could be fun!

That would be fun. What do you have in mind?

I was thinking about putting together all of our books we read last year and shuffle them up. Every week we'll vote in the rounds and then by March 31st we'll have a winner of our favorite book from last year. What do you think?

Has anyone ever heard of a "Take 5 Challenge"? We do it in my YA book club and I thought it might work well in this one, since no one is limited to a particular kind of book here. The way it works is that the first person in the challenge would post 5 books, then the second person chooses one of those 5 and says "read this one" and then posts a list of 5 that he/she wants to read. Then the 3rd person chooses one off of the 2nd person's list and posts a list of 5 that he/she wants to read, and so on. You can re-submit to this challenge as many times as you want (once you have finished reading the book that was chosen to you, you can go to the end of the comments, choose a book for the last person on the list, and post a new list of 5) so it is nice and flexible, and the only real downside to it is that because the last person in line has to wait for a new person to post before he/she knows which of the 5 books to read, you might wait a few days to start the challenge. But as this is an active club, that will probably not be a problem. What do you think?

Ohh I kind of like the genre idea. I'm not one to step out of my box of genres so that could be fun!

Genre would be fun. We could even do some kind of challenge from the best of list, maybe use all the past lists

Not totally sure, but I bet we could come up with something. Like one from each category but you can use any year or a book from each year? I haven't thought it out. Just figured they won for a reason

We could do the "Best of 2000s" so that would be 6 books in each category.

Or we could do 1 book from each category in 2016 each month in 2017.

Maybe both, do one as a challenge and one as BOTM?

I saw a challenge somewhere called fairy tale challenge. It looked pretty fun. It was something like
Cinderella:
1. read the original story
2. read a retelling of Cinderella
3. read a book with a shoe on the cover
4. read a book with step-sisters
5. read a book with a prince

then it started on other tales.

We can also do a "how many fairy tales can you read" type of challenge too.

Now that it's getting close to the end of the year, does anyone have any suggestions for Challenges for next year?

I think it would be cool to do a genre challenge like read a romance book, a paranormal, a thriller, non fiction. Or an alphabet challenge. Or even a word challenge could be fun where you have a list of random words like dog, pen, cup, chair, window and you read a book with the wors somewhere in the title for each word.

I do poetic clues for my crosswords. would anyone find that challenging enough?

I post a rhyming clue. The first one who gets the word can either post their own clue for another word, or book title, or simply give the word and ask others to write clues for it.

That sounds fun - we can actually put that in our Games folder and start at any time.

Or we could do 20 questions. You have to say if it's Animal. Vegetable or Mineral and then answer questions only yes or no.
for example: 'Roast chicken' would be 'animal'. Is it alive? would be a leading question. Of course you would be tempted to say 'I hope not' but you are only allowed to say 'no'

It's that time again! Does anyone have any challenge ideas they want to shout out for 2020?

I do like the finish a series challenge. Helps me get on track.
