Crystal (myeerah) | 125 comments - What are you reading this week?
The iron king by Julie Kagawa

- Are you a fan of series? (in general)
Typically yes because you can have more character development over time but I'm not always in the mood.

- Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
Yes. I really enjoyed The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa and it sounds like this series might be even better.

message 52: by Tamula (new)

Tamula | 65 comments I am reading The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
I am 200 pages in and really enjoying this book.
I like series because you have more time to get to know the characters and see where the author takes them.
I will definitely continue this series. My niece and I went to a book signing for The Raven King and it was a blast meeting the author so we are both continuing.

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments What are you reading this week?
The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie.

Are you a fan of series? (in general)
Yes and no. I prefer stand-alone novels in general, but I do love a good series - like Harry Potter. I chose this series in particular to start for this challenge as it's very loosely a series, and I won't feel compelled to read more if I don't want to.

Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
Absolutely not. I think there are about 39 books in the Hercule Poirot series! :O

message 54: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (bebecburt) | 546 comments What are you reading this week? Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson

Are you a fan of series? (in general) I'm not sure. I know I read a lot of series, but I very rarely finish them and I hate having to wait for the next one to come out.

Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016? I don't think so. I liked this book, but I'm not super invested in it.

message 55: by Sam F (new)

Sam F | 82 comments - What are you reading this week? I listened I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.

- Are you a fan of series? (in general) - Absolutely!

- Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016? Maybe - if I have access to it. It was wonderful to hear this book read by Maya Angelou herself as it is about her life as a young child/teen. It was so beautifully spoken and written.

- What are you reading this week? The Eyre Affair

- Are you a fan of series? (in general)
I am. I get really into characters and am sad to say good-bye at the end of a book so a series helps!

- Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
It's not in my schedule, but who knows!

The second book is on my reading list for 2016. If I have time and if I enjoy the first two books, I'll read the third too.

Areeba books and kids | 89 comments The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Chronicles of Narnia, #1) by Hiawyn Oram

By C.S. Lewis.
I know that Harper Collins visited the entire series and marked this book as the second one, but when I picked up this book I didn't know it had anything to the with The Chronicles of Narnia (I'm that lost) . Anyway , loved it and now I'm reading the series to how it was published. So this is technically the first one.

This will always be the first book to me! I think the series is much better in written order than in chronological order.

- Are you a fan of series? (in general) I like series.
- Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016? Maybe

message 65: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (TheSlothReader) This week I read The Kiss of Deception by Mary E Pearson. I typically favor series over standalones because I like books about deep characters who undergo stellar character development and large, enriching worlds which are often found more in series. I do plan on reading the rest of this series in 2016 because the final book comes out at the end of August.

message 66: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 539 comments What are you reading this week?
Cocaine Blues by Kerry Greenwood

Are you a fan of series? (in general)
Yes I sure am. The majority the books I read are part of a series. I love the way that you get to see more of your favorite characters as the books go on.

Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
I sure plan to try! I already looked up the rest of the series and my library carries all the books!!

message 67: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Sarah - have you watched the TV series? My mom is hooked on it!

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) What are you reading this week?
Witch Song

Are you a fan of series? (in general)
Yes! I love series and have read several and am working on several as well, this series is a new one to add to me list of series i'm reading.

Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
Well the next couple weeks are books in this series, so yes I am going to try to finish this series this year.

message 69: by L (new)

L | 127 comments - What are you reading this week?
I will be reading A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle which was the first time Sherlock Holmes was introduced to the world.

- Are you a fan of series? (in general)
Yes and no. Sometimes they are disappointing when the first book is fantastic and then the sequel is a bit meh. But then with other series (e.g. Harry Potter) the whole point is that the stories build up over time. When I find a series I like, I have to stop myself from binge reading the whole lot.

- Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
Not in 2016 - but over time I think I probably will. It may just take me a while!

Q: Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
A:
This year, I don't. As I said before, I want to finish that series and read more from The Bad Beginning and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone series.

The Bourne Identity

Only if my library has all of the books. I like fantasy and science fiction and libraries tend to only have the 2nd and 3rd books.

Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
I am not sure, it depends on if I like the first one or not.

Are you a fan of series? (in general)
Yes, I like reading series and getting to know and stay with favorite characters.
Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
Probably not. This was a good read, but not great and I'm not tempted to add the rest to my TBR.

message 77: by Nicola (new)

Nicola Tyson What are you reading this week?
Outlander (Outlander #1) by Diana Gabaldon

Are you a fan of series? (in general)

Yes, though i get nervous when a series is very long (more than 6 books) especially when i'm very invested. There is nothing worse than a series abruptly ending with plot still outstanding.

Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
I may read the next couple but these books are huge and i have other books i also want to read. It will probably take me into 2017 to finish them all.

Karen (winterscomin) | 41 comments - What are you reading this week?
Graceling - Kristin Cashore
- Are you a fan of series? (in general)
Yes, very much! Most of my favourite books are parts of series. This may stem from my love of epic fantasy and worldbuilding... usually that sort of thing has to take place over multiple books.
- Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
At this point probably not since there are SO MANY more books I need to read in the next 2 months, and I'll be going overseas giving me even less time :(

- Do you plan on reading the rest of the series in 2016?
I am a bit late on this post and read the trilogy already.
