Sandra (sanlema) | 11264 comments Hahaha, I was thinking about the new challenge a few days ago. Then I decided it would be better if I concentrate in at least do 1 level of the current challenge... (I got so distracted from my series!)

message 6: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19160 comments My series list is so long that I'll probably be working on it all through 2016 too! I am incredibly curious to see what I'll be trying to accomplish next year in addition. ;)

Amen sista'.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Oh come on. It's only November. Don't you all have a million and one other things to get done before you even think about 2016, or is that just me?

message 9: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I do, Rusalka!
I don't want to know. :0)
I don't want to think about gophering for books and and planning for something new yet.

message 10: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments When I saw the title to this thread, I wondered what the heck it was all about. Thanks for the laugh, Almeta.

So, I've made a couple of hints which I'll repeat here:

1. We are going to go on a trek.
2. Jurassic Park would be a perfect book for one of the tasks.

I'm still working on putting it together. This one is taking a lot of preparation - more than any other challenge I've designed. I hope I have it finished in time.

message 11: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments Oh, and what Rusalka said. :)

message 12: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19160 comments Lol. I have tons to do, but it doesn't stop me from being curious. Your teasers just make me want to know more! ;) I suppose I can wait a bit longer.

message 13: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments Teasers is all you're going to get until I unveil the challenge the beginning of December. *evil cackle*

message 14: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Oh, I haven't read Jurassic Park yet!
Trek - a journey, an adventure? Space, the final frontier in a galaxy far, far away? Yay! Places to visit, things to see! Sounds like another year of great reading ahead, Janice.

message 15: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1788 comments Nope, nothing better to do. I'm already planning my 2016 reading, there is just this gap where the YLTO year long challenge is supposed to go..... :)

LOL fair enough. I have been told :P

message 17: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee I wish to join in next year challenge but comparing my amount of reading next to yours guys makes me rethink about it !

Sounds like it'll be about dangerous wild life .. Or killer adventures !

message 18: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Nah, have a read when Janice puts it up CFDeeDee and join in. Janice is lovely and makes the bar pretty low for slow pokes like me to complete the challenge.

You complete the challenge as soon as you hit that first milestone, and these people that zoom off into the distance are doing it for their own fun.

message 19: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee I am much more slower than you are Rusalka !
I'll see how my book list would fit within the challenge !
Maybe it'll be good to join so I could learn how to read faster ..

message 20: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Well, it's not a competition ;) Point is that there is usually about a 6-10 or so book requirement roughly to complete the challenge over 12 months. So definitely check it out, and don't get put off by the super speedy readers.

I agree CFDeeDee. Have a look at the challenge when Janice posts it and take things from there. It really doesn't matter how many books you read as long as you are having fun :) I am not the quickest reader either. I wanted to complete at least 4 levels for this years' 'Serial Killer' challenge but have only managed 2 so far and I doubt I will complete another before the year ends. I have read some great books along the way though and have had a lot of fun doing it so that is good enough for me :)

message 23: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee Putting it that way makes me think of reconsidering it !
I'll keep a close eye around for the challenge :D

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments I'm going to slow things down a bit for 2016.

The last few years, I've tried to accommodate the speed readers so adapted with levels, milestones, etc. This year, there will be one level and when you finish it, the challenge is done. Having said that, there is a bonus available.

The speed readers can knock themselves out, and fly themselves to the moon if they want after they've completed the challenge (which some of them will likely do in January). There will be a lot to keep them going if they set their own personal goal. It will sort of be of like the monthly challenge where we say, "This challenge is for one book. You may read more, but only one book will be counted." Except - we'll be reading more than one book. :)

I hope everyone likes the change in pace. It will probably make more sense once I post the challenge. I'm about 70% completed in design.

Works for me - Jurassic Park in January?? Shall I set up a thread in anticipation?

message 28: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Oh boy... I don't doubt it will be a wonderful challenge (again)!!! :D
Take your time, Janice (but not too long ;)...)!

Your year long challenges are always great Janice. I'm sure we will all love whatever it is you have got planned for us.

message 31: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments I absolutely agree with you, Sandra and Lisa.
I too love the current yearly challenge. I've almost finished level 4 and that is at least 2 levels more than I thought I would do!

message 32: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments A Jurassic Park buddy read sounds great. And January? Why not!

message 33: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments I'm glad you all enjoy them. I think you'll really like this one. I'm having fun researching it, and learning lots in the process. Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

I'll start a thread for Jurassic Park.

message 34: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments I should mention that you may not want to read Jurassic Park once you learn about the challenge. Let's just say that you commit to one book and you commit to....

But, the thread is up.
