10.6. It's Cold Here, but Colder There!
A trivia game, 94%, requires players to find 94% of the answers given to the question of what are “cold countries.” The answer, according to a number of “cheat sites” are:
• Russia – 35%
• Canada – 22%
• Greenland – 20%
• Iceland – 9%
• Norway – 4%
• Sweden – 2%
• Finland – 2%
Read a book set at least 50% in one of these countries.

It will work if at least 50% is set in Siberia. I haven't read it, so I don't know.

Meg (megscl) | 2471 comments I've read it June. Definitely over 50% in Russia. And is a good read!

Lindsey (_lindsey_) | 498 comments The Almost Nearly Perfect People: Behind the Myth of the Scandinavian Utopia Does nonfiction work? Looks like about 3/5 of the book is about Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

Nonfiction is fine. I seem to recall that there was a considerable amount about Denmark, but the rest should work - Iceland is also included, so I would imagine that those 4 countries put it over the 50% mark.

Cait S | 738 comments Okay, stupid question time. I've done some googling but I want to make absolutely sure I'm reading this right. Apologies, I kind of failed geography in middle school.

Newfoundland is part of/considered Canada, right? So The Bird Artist which is set there would work for this task?

Yes, Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the provinces of Canada.

Amanda (amandapearl) | 267 comments Would The Way We Fall work? It's set on a small island off the coast of Canada.

Is it part of Canada? That's the requirement for the task.

I did some more research and I found on the author's website that it is set in Nova Scotia but the specific island is made up. too fictional?

the author's blog post

No, fictional is okay, and the author's comment makes it clear that it's a fictional community set in Nova Scotia. So, that works - be sure to reference this okay in your post, so that Dlmrose doesn't have to go through figuring this out!

Whitnie | 280 comments Hello, I'm wondering if Lords of the Bow would be appropriate.

Genghis: Lords of the Bow

His empire extended into what is now modern Russia so I'm hoping that this works.

From the GR description, it doesn't sound as if at least 50% of the book is set in Russia - sounds as if it's primarily set in China. If it actually takes place in what is now Russia for at least 50% of the book, explain this in your post.

Whitnie | 280 comments I'm wondering if this book will work. Sounds like it is set in two of the possible countires...Canada and Iceland

The Tricking of Freya: A Novel

if it is, in fact, set at least 50% in Canada and Iceland, it works. It's also noted as being set in Manhattan, so you'll have to decide when you read the book - and if it is set at least 50% in Canada and Iceland, be sure to explain that when you post.
