The Exiled Queen discussion

Dialogue is what a person says and how they say it. On page 96, Bordeaux says "Not so fasted.'He hissed". After losing a game of cards against Han and loosing a lot of money for it angered him because he is usually the one cheating, but this time he is being cheated. When his voice is described as hissed, it gives the reader the opinion of anger and violence. These traits demonstrate how short tempered and unstable he is. Thoughts?

I think the same thing Sarah, I love how authors use adjectives to change how you interpret what the person says. For example, "the commander commands" not "The commander says"

I loved it! But for book one I don't think there is much dialogue in the first book. What about you?

me too, there was more filling in the plot and giving the reader info through thoughts and actions.

I also think that the characters in the second book are more secretive, and it is hard for the writer to make the characters secretive if the character's thoughts are revealed to the reader

Very true, I definitely think that Amon and Raisa are secretive because they have to hide the fact that "Rebecca Morley" is Princess Raisa. This definitely contributes to dialogue because whenever Raisa's fake name is said by Amon he says it very professional, or it's said very awkward. Thoughts?

I don't want to reveal anything not said already, but the dialogue hints to Raisa that he can't be with her, and that makes Raisa more open to Hunts Alone.

Yea I have noticed that! But I also noticed how when ever they get close, Amon comes to his senses and acts like a guard and not like her friend

Yes, also sometimes Amon takes like he likes her then sometimes he talks like he doesn't. What he says correspondences to his emotions

Very true, actually now that I think about it, Micah also uses dialogue to describe how he feels for Raisa. Also following that thought Raisa has an inner conflict between her love for those two. But of course, the problem is solved when she discovers her love for Amon

But then she gets deprived from that solution when she meets Hunts Alone. This internal conflict then becomes larger and not only is she debating weather or not she should be with Hunts alone, Amon, Micah, or the boy from the clans.
This is all solved again though when Micah trys to to kill her/marry her, Amon can't be with her, and the boy from the clans does something I won't spoil for you. In the end though, she makes up he mind and marries (i think) Hunts Alone (even though he is a wizard and is in the wizard council)
