Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments OK, it isn't summer yet but I saw the sun the other day

Welcome to the group, introduce yourself and get your sun cream out.

If you are struggling to get round our site try Group Quick Start

Please start by adding a post to our ‘Introduce Yourself ‘ thread. We are a nosey lot and would love to know who you are, what you like to read (and write), where you live and what you drink, eat, wear and grow.

This thread meanders off-topic quite a bit but as soon as a new member comes along our friendly but bonkers members soon appear to give you a warm welcome.

Of course you don’t have to introduce yourself if you prefer.

Getting started is often a bit of a problem. Try our Group Quick Start for tips.

Many people just stick to reading the Unread Threads
Section. You can even mark everything as read and start with an empty list.

You could head off to Meet The Authors check out the New releases or play some Group Games.

The Author Zone is going great guns. This is not just for authors by any means but gives them a place where they can talk about publishing challenges and resources. It is a no-promo zone!

Even if you don’t feel ready to post something you are most welcome to sit back and watch the fun.

This forum is very lightly moderated (hardly noticeable), occasionally we will ask you to keep a particular thread on topic and we have a few simple rules about author threads and new releases.

If you have any problems you can post questions on the threads or visit our Agony Aunt and someone will come along and help. If you would rather not ask your question publicly by all means send a personal message (PM) to Patti or myself and we will try to help.

I archive this section from time to time, so if you want a conversation that isn't going to disappear, feel free to use any of the existing threads or start your own.

Still struggling? Click the link below and tell us how we can make things better.

Stuart Keane (StuartKeane) | 32 comments Hello all.

New Goodreads Author right here. I'm still finding my way around to be honest so thought I might pop on here and say hi! So hi!

How's everyone doing? I'm just taking a break from writing my second novel. Boy do my fingers hurt.

Have you ever tried Georgette Heyer? She writes historical. My favourites are Cotillion, Friday's Child and The Unknown Ajax. I'm also very fond of Simon The Coldheart.

Mel | 14 comments I shall check those out too DD I read the Nero Decree written by Gregory Lee. It was a world war 2 novel I loved it. I really didn't think I would but found myself engaged with the characters. I have also read Wrongful Death- the aids trial which was a a fiction book just filled with surprising facts and the beauty of the book was it was a free amazon book.

You can never overstock with sheep, they just keep dying until they get back to the right number :-(

message 50: by Steven (last edited Apr 21, 2014 05:02AM) (new)

Steven Beddoe So, introduce oneself eh? My name is Steve, as you may have gathered from the name right next to "Message 50" just at the top of my post.
I am 51 and I would like that age to stay right by there, pretty please. I may see the years so long as my body stays at 51.
I have authored five books and I'm working on my sixth one. Right now I am currently out of work which is why I'm doing this writing gig in the hopes of earning enough to see me through. As well as this, I'm also working as an extra on films and television and that helps in bringing in the readies. I am also on the look out for a full time job, if there is any about in my locale!
I am doing this authorship for five years with the plan of bringing out two or even three books per year. If I do not make a success out of this by the end of those five years then I never will but at least I cannot say to myself that I didn't try.
I live in south Wales in a very happy marriage with a wonderful wife who keeps ordering me, "write some more" and I'd better listen to her. I have two dogs, both are utterly crazy. They love people and are in full welcome mode whenever a visitor comes to my house.
I have three children, all adults, one is in University, the youngest all set to join him after this summer and my eldest is trying to make a go of it in a rock band.
I am primarily a horror writer who has three books in a trilogy out but don't buy the third one! Not until I've improved it through re-writing. It's crap otherwise :-)
Anyway, hi to one and all ;-)
