K.M. Weiland's Read 100 Books in 2016 Challenge discussion

Happy New Year, everyone! And welcome to the official first day of our 100 Books in 2016 challenge. Your enthusiasm has already been killer! So let's get this rolling.

What will be the first book you'll mark off your list this year?

For me, it's looking like it will probably be Kristen Heitzman's hilarious brand new release Told You So:

The Odyssey by Homer, or Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke. Depends which one holds my attention better. :)

Wise Blood by Flannery O'Conner or a baby sign language book.

"The Dragon Factory" by Jonathan Maberry.

Here by Richard McGuire. Only takes about an hour to read through it, as it's mostly illustrations, but FANTASTIC!

I'm reading Ron Chernow's Alexander Hamilton. Very well written, but not a quick page-turner. This will get me off to a slow start!

The Tears of Dark Water by Corban Addison!

Studs, Tools & Fools by Kathleen Hering. Third in a trilogy and a total whodunnit hoot. Not to be taken too seriously, but definitely to be thoroughly enjoyed.

I'm currently reading 3 books: Katie's Storming (my wife and I take turns reading that one to each other at night), David J. Peterson's The Art of Language Invention, and Carole Jelen and Michael McCallister's Build Your Author Platform.

I'll be checking in with the rest of you for recommendations along the way, so I hope you'll post a quick review here and there.

Just finished Traitors' Gate

Absolutely adored the characters and plot in this book - an epic fantasy based on mongol/chinese cultures.

Pity about the incongruous word selections that kept dragging me out of the story, or could have been a 5 star read.

First book was Ivanhoe, Second book was Robinson Crusoe, and third book The Secret Soldier. I've read three books to day. 97 books to go.

I am going to finish up Douglas Adam's "The Meaning of Liff" and then it is on to the much anticipated "Tainted Angels" by Ien Nivens :)

I read A Matter of Time by Margaret Locke today. It was not as good as her previous novel. I need a really great one next.

Beginning the new year with KM Weiland's new book Storming. Just finished the first chapter!

Well, I'm finishing C.S. Lewis's Miracles, but the first "new" book I'm starting is K.M. Weiland's Outlining Your Novel.

I really enjoyed Outlining Your Novel: Map Your Way to Success. I have her other book on writing Structuring Your Novel: Essential Keys for Writing an Outstanding Story on my TBR for this year.

Started "Storming" today. Plan to read chapter three before going to bed.

The Fringe Hours. Finished 3 chapters today. Yay!

Started and finished "Of Mice and Magic" byDavid Farland today. It was alright. I want to have Ben-Hur done before the movie comes out in April(?), but I'm not sure if that will happen.

Five languages of love. Since I am interested in psychology without jargon. ;)

Eased myself in gently by reading Fantastic Mr Fox, as this year celebrates 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl.
I'm a slow reader with very little spare time, so this really is going to be a challenge for me.

Started reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows on New Year's Day and finsihed it this morning. This is the second time of reading and it was just as enjoyable as the first. A brilliant book which works on many levels.

Started the year off with Anne Tyler's 'A Spool Of Blue Thread'. Surprisingly not as slow-paced as I'd expected it to be!

I will be starting off with The Goldfinch - hoping to read a few chapters today.

My first was "The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane" by Kate DiCamilo. And I'm currently reading "The 5th Wave" by Rick Yancey

Outcast by Rosemary Sutcliff.

I'm going to start with Glass Roses: A Victorian Fairytale by Britain Kalai Soderquist. I stumbled across it quite by chance browsing the Kindle Store and enjoyed the sample, and decided to go for it.

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Right now I think it's a toss-up between Characters & Viewpoint by Orson Scott Card and The Greatest Knight (can't remember who it's by), which is about William Marshal, who served 5 medieval English kings without losing his head.

Also working on a few others right now. :)

I'm reading "Thread Sliver" by Leeland Artra. It started off with good character development, but I'm having a hard time staying with it after the half way mark. I don't think I'm going to continue the trilogy after this one.

Next book will be "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman.

Happy New Year to All. I am looking forward to this challenge. I had a few books on the go but the first book of the year is The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks. I had taken out a couple of Literature courses from Library and was looking at a number of different genres but now I will try to get through some of them. :)

My first book of the year turned out to be Mrs. Zant and the Ghost by Wilkie Collins. Not too bad. I gave it three stars only because it wasn't really what I expected. If it had I probably would have given it four stars. I don't seem to have too much luck with books that have the word "Ghost" in the title.

Just finished my first, Behold the Dawn!

I'm already starting my fourth book. finished girl on a train yesterday. And I read More Happy Than Not that same day. It's the only benefit of strep throat; I have plenty of time to read.

Congratz Megan on getting those books read. I'm a slow reader to begin with but since I got sick I am very slow having to close my eyes a lot because of the meds I take. You are an inspiration for me to keep going.

Just finished my first, A Thousand Tombs by Molly Greene. I hadn't read this author before and I seemed to have jumped into the middle of a series, but the book stood by itself. Enjoyable detective genre.

My first book is A Time to Die... SO GOOD.

I finished "The Secret Garden" . First book of the year.
