I'm hoping to make a large number of those books I've had for some time, and keep meaning to read and not getting to.

Number of books, 180.
Want to; read diverse(books from different genres), start series, end series+++

I set my Goodreads goal at 150, but I would like to get 200 reads. I want to finish at least 30 series that I've already started, read at least 80 books I already own off of my shelves, 10 nonfiction reads, and 20 adult reads.

When my older two were about 2 and 3, I read 150 books in a year, but I also didn't have to wake up to take them to school LOL. I used to have to read to fall asleep, but now I'm so tired that by the time my head hits the pillow, I can't keep my eyes open to save my life, let alone read a book. I do try and read in the pick up line to get the older two at school. That's actually where I get a majority of reading done nowadays.

I know people would probably see it as cheating but when our local library did the annual summer reading contest my friends used picture books they read to their little brother as part of their tally. That'd be a good way to rack up the books.

I see no problem with that unless the rules stated specifically otherwise. In fact that can be one of the best kind of reading! ^-^

I agree there. Especially when your doing it to share the stories inside with others.

I agree: as long as the rules don't spacifically state a certain type of book should be used (or shouldn't be, as the case may be) any count. Goodreads counts all lengths and formats for their yearly challenge, so I do too. Bearing in mind, some of my books are in audio, others are eBooks, some are short children's books of only a few pages (the length of your average picture book without the pictures) and others are several hundred pages long. As far as I'm concerned though, if you read it, it counts, whether you were reading it to someone, or just on your own, and whether you read it by listening to the audio version, or by reading the text yourself (eBook or otherwise). Besides, some types of books are difficult for people to read for whatever reason, and some people have more time to read than others.
Plus, children's books are fun! ;)

And this is why I love Goodreads. No one is a snob and we're all here for one thing, our shared love of reading and literature.

*Nods in agreement*

Fingers crossed that I'll make it. :)
Anyways, what are your reading goals for this year?
