I keep putting 2015 on everything. It took me all year to get used to it being 2015, and now we are in 2016! AHHHH!

Anyways, what are your reading goals for this year?

message 2: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments My goal is to read 216 books this year.

I'm hoping to make a large number of those books I've had for some time, and keep meaning to read and not getting to.

message 3: by Harlee (new)

Harlee | 1583 comments I'd like to do some rereads and finish a few series :) I set my GR goal lower so I'd have time to include rereads. And I'd like to buy less books and just read what I have lol!

message 4: by Jassa (new)

Jassa Myne (bejaye) | 3 comments I've set my goal higher to 150, which is higher than normal, but I have a number of books that I have been meaning to read, so I'm hoping that helps.

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin | 330 comments I set mine for 300 but may raise it to 500 if I read more graphic novels. I'm getting weirdly ocd about my numbers and like the number 500 or just go back down to 100 :-D

Number of books, 180.
Want to; read diverse(books from different genres), start series, end series+++

message 7: by Storm (new)

Storm Arashi (stormarashi) | 1130 comments 100.

Want to: Finish trilogies, read some good standalones, reread some of my favorite series.

message 8: by Leigh (new)

Leigh | 403 comments My goal is 215. I also want to finish series I have already started and to finish my reviews for Netgalley.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) I'm aiming for 250. A lot of those will be re-reads and manga though.

I set my Goodreads goal at 150, but I would like to get 200 reads. I want to finish at least 30 series that I've already started, read at least 80 books I already own off of my shelves, 10 nonfiction reads, and 20 adult reads.

message 11: by Janie (new)

Janie (sjelli11) I lowered my goal once again. Struggling to hit my mark - in my defense, I did have a 3rd kid and pick up volunteering with girl scouts in the mix. So instead of a book a week (52), I'm aiming for 45 books total for the year. I won't change it, so I'm hoping to surpass it! It'll be easier since Mason is 10 months and I'm not losing near as much sleep :)

Sarah Jane, when my kids were little it was good if I finished 2 books a year! 45 is great :)

When my older two were about 2 and 3, I read 150 books in a year, but I also didn't have to wake up to take them to school LOL. I used to have to read to fall asleep, but now I'm so tired that by the time my head hits the pillow, I can't keep my eyes open to save my life, let alone read a book. I do try and read in the pick up line to get the older two at school. That's actually where I get a majority of reading done nowadays.

I know people would probably see it as cheating but when our local library did the annual summer reading contest my friends used picture books they read to their little brother as part of their tally. That'd be a good way to rack up the books.

I see no problem with that unless the rules stated specifically otherwise. In fact that can be one of the best kind of reading! ^-^

message 16: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Bruno | 771 comments Wow those are some huge numbers! I'm only aiming for 70 since I made to about 74 in 2015.

I agree there. Especially when your doing it to share the stories inside with others.

message 18: by Holly (new)

Holly Hood (hollyprawnd) | 33 comments I've set my goal to 70. I think I managed 2-3 books last year... that's it. So unlike me and horrible to think I missed out on my favourite pastime! I've a ridiculous amount to catch up on :-)

I agree: as long as the rules don't spacifically state a certain type of book should be used (or shouldn't be, as the case may be) any count. Goodreads counts all lengths and formats for their yearly challenge, so I do too. Bearing in mind, some of my books are in audio, others are eBooks, some are short children's books of only a few pages (the length of your average picture book without the pictures) and others are several hundred pages long. As far as I'm concerned though, if you read it, it counts, whether you were reading it to someone, or just on your own, and whether you read it by listening to the audio version, or by reading the text yourself (eBook or otherwise). Besides, some types of books are difficult for people to read for whatever reason, and some people have more time to read than others.

Plus, children's books are fun! ;)

And this is why I love Goodreads. No one is a snob and we're all here for one thing, our shared love of reading and literature.

*Nods in agreement*

message 22: by Alyson (new)

Alyson Stone (alysonserenastone) | 240 comments Going for 150 again this year. There's so many good ones coming out too that I must read! :)

message 23: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments There's a more detailed list of my goals here––but over all, I hope to read 75 books total. And I'm going to focus a lot on re-reading/finishing some of my favorite series, and I want to read more graphic novels and more books I own. :)

message 24: by Caffeinated Fae (new)

Caffeinated Fae (caffeinatedfae) I have always wanted to reach 100 books in a year but I think that might be impossible for me. I will hopefully be starting a new (more demanding) job soon and I have to set my goals accordingly. I'm going to try for 60 books this year. I'm debating if I'm going to add more detailed goals or not. In 2014, I actually asked a bunch of my family and friends for book recommendations with a promise that I would read them. It was interesting but also a little frustrating when I hated the book.

message 25: by Heather (new)

Heather (hersecretsmile) | 290 comments I set my goal at 50 books this year. Life has been getting busier and I wasn't able to reach my goal of 75 last year, so I decided to be more realistic. My biggest goal is to get through my massive to read pile.

☆☆Hannah☆☆ I'm going for 200. I read 350 last year so I should be able to reach my goal.

message 27: by Ellanah (new)

Ellanah (yashereads) | 7 comments I read 50 for 2015 though I had struggles in completing the challenge because of school. So for this year, I will go for 30 books (because college is getting harder).

message 28: by Donna (new)

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments I read 177 books last year so set goal for 160 and hope I can keep up.

message 29: by Joanne Farley (new)

Joanne Farley I've set my target at 30 for this year. Last year was rough not much time for reading I'm hoping this year is different.

message 30: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 449 comments I'd like to read 36 new-to-me books this year (on top of all the other rereads I have planned). I do not want to go into The Raven King cold! And another group I'm in is having an epic Harry Potter reread, so I couldn't resist joining in on that!
Fingers crossed that I'll make it. :)
