Genre Readers looking to expand discussion

Welcome to our group!

My name is Melissa and I took over Moderating for this group when the original creator (Beth) left Goodreads. Most people tend to stay in a specific genre when they read and the idea behind this group is to explore other genres to find others that appeal to you.

Please feel free to create topics and post, this isn't just my group it is yours to. Each section should have a topic for suggestions and if you have anything you would like to see going on in the group then let me know and I will see about getting them to happen.

We have a different genre/theme each month that are chosen by poll but if there is a specific one you want to read let me know and we'll read it that month. You can read any book you choose as long as it is in that Genre.

We have Challenges that vary in length depending on what they are, some will last the entire year while others may only be a few months. New this year is a section of ongoing challenges and those are ones that most wont' be able to finish in a year so will stay active all the time.

We have a Quarterly Read every quarter and that is the only book that we all read together. We choose that book through a poll as well.

That just about sums up the group. I hope you find something you like and as always I am open to suggestions.

Update: I have stopped the quarterly read for now but if anyone in the group wants to take that on, let me know. If someone would like to do it, I would like to see different genres represented each quarter. Also, I would like to see more discussion, whether it be book club questions or something. I would like to just hand this off to someone and let them run the quarterly reads however they think they can do it.

Another update: I replaced the quarterly read with an author spotlight. Each month we will vote on an author and read something by that author as well as discuss the author in general.
