In the beginning of the book I see how it will be introduced to the audience which is by the narrator in third person omniscient. It's being told in past tense and in like an ancient myth or fable is how we read it. I'm intrigued by this book because it involves history and although it's fiction i believe that the story can be related or based of off a true story or journey of a young boy.
Santiago makes a series of material sacrifices in order to pursue his Personal Legend to reach the pyramids of Egypt. And I see the many ways he did this because he could've just saved his money and went home but instead he felt like he could pursue his journey and find his treasure which was a risky move because he put it all on the table for a treasure that he believes is there even after being robbed and having to get a job and start from scratch again just to make it.
I believe the climax in the book was when Santiago struggled to turn himself into the wind while being held by warring tribesman in the Sahara Desert. And that's when he was just about on his way to finding his treasure with help from the Alchemist along the way. But the only holdup were the tribesman who take the oasis very seriously and guards it cautiously. After some time they let Santiago go continue his journey after he explained to them his plan and his personal legend he planned to gain .
Then at the end Santiago arrives at the pyramids, but in a twist, he had to go back to Spain when he learns that his treasure was buried in an abandoned church by a sycamore tree where he started his journey. So basically the journey was to just put clues together and learn about the world around him and how nature plays a huge role in succeeding. But he went through a tremendous amount of time and atleast in the end it was necessary because he had to go through all of that to find out that the treasure wasn't far from where he had started in the first place.
After reading the book I also noticed that foreshadowing was being used in many different parts like when Santiago has initial dream of the pyramids under the sycamore tree. Later, we learn that the treasure he saw in his dream is buried under that tree. As the story continues Melchizedek foreshadows Santiago’s success with the merchant when he explains “beginner’s luck.”
