Gabi Maldonado America Singer from my book The Selection is brought out through the five ways of developing a character.
They are:
- the characters description
-action
-relationships between other characters
-thoughts
-dialogue
At the point where I am in the story now I can see that America is brought out a lot through her relationship with the other 34 selected girls. Marlee her best friend tells her that she is mysterious and that's what makes all the other girls suspicious of her. Marlee also says that through this mysteriousness America is seen as either a confident person or fearful person but only Marlee knows how nice she is. Americas overall relationship with the other selected is kind of unsure. They don't each others story's nor do they understand their life before because of the multiple classes that were selected. i think that the word to describe this relationship is foggy. Fog blocks your view and I feel like their competition and nerves keep them from wanting to understand the other girls and make relationships with them. I also think that America's character is brought out through the fact that no one but Marlee wants to get to know her leaving her lonely because Marlee seems very popular.
