Daredevil on Netflix

I think the fact both shows are nearly identical in their construction with the flashbacks and character development from lone violent vigilante to a more team-based group justice league is coincidental. They are identical solutions to similar problems stemming from a similar source.

Where it fails for me is the premise of Daredevil himself. He will always be one of those ideas that, even in the world of superheroes and toxic waste causing abilities instead of death, makes no sense to me. A blind superhero who also has all these over the top abilities that make him better then a sighted person, even for items that are holding still and make no sound. He isn't using tech to overcome his blindness or relying on a partner. Not having sight means that as a detective he would only be able to recognize a very specific range of clues. So the plots have to be tailor made to his limitations. Oh and somehow he also has the time to be a lawyer, that's a profession known for it's ample free time...
At least Bruce Wayne was known for partying and sleeping late. He also disappeared for years for training and had giant piles of cash to develop his toys.
Jessica Jones doesn't have this concept issue and while Daredevil is still a five star show for me, JJ breaks the damn scale.

I was thinking, "Holy crap, they're creating an army of Daredevils!"

Flash was a character many years before DD! (If you go back to the comics that is

Also The Flash and Daredevil are almost nothing alike. Maybe the only thing is they share red costumes, although different shades of red.

I have to admit though, I kinda miss the old black costume. I really liked the eyehole-less mask on it.

There's a lot of good performances, but D'Onofrio stands out, which is funny because I would not have thought of him at all for that part, so I'm going to give back my imaginary tenth point on that basis. 10/10.
Elden Henson/Foggy isn't so great, but I don't think that's entirely any particular person's fault. The actor is physically good for the role, and I've seen him do well, but he seems to be lacking directorial guidance, a complete character bible, or something intrinsic to the naturalism of the character. Rescinding that 10th point again. 9/10.
I totally dig the grittiness, and I like that Daredevil doesn't "one punch knockout" every minor henchman. He has to MMA his way through them. He does it superhero-style, to be sure, but it looks like it hurts--not just the people he's hitting. Back at 10 points.
Then there was the last episode, which I thought was a bit of an anti-climax. 9/10 again.
Still that's absolutely worth watching. Green Lantern kind of cured me of my commitment to absolutely anything comic book/superhero related. I'll not automatically go out and watch anything in the genre anymore. It has to intrigue me beforehand. I'm very much on board for S2 of Daredevil.

Daredevil has long been Marvel's Catholic character, and the arc that really put him on the map back in the 80s hit that aspect hard. Looks like they're going to be updating that storyline for season 2.
