Sarah Dexter I just finished chapter 2 (or should I say ploughed through chapter 2 because I couldn't put it down!). Reading about the Houston convention through Steinem's writing was such a privilege. I was born in the 90's so obviously I was not alive during this time but it made me so proud to know that women were trying to evoke change at such a large scale! I was overcome with emotion about 3 times during this chapter and I really felt like I was there experiencing these events first hand. I really appreciate the focus on groups of women who so often are voiceless, ie. the First Nations women. Even in Canada there is such a lack of representation for First Nations women in government to this day.
