On a cold night in 1978, seven-year-old Shabnam Shahmohammad clung to her mother in a Tehran apartment while the sounds of gunshots rang out in the street: The Iranian Revolution was at hand. Confused by her father’s communist ideology, her mother’s conservative religious beliefs, and the regime’s oppressive rules, she developed a deep longing to live a different life.

If it's available on Kindle, Amazon lets you send it to people. All you need is their email address and they'll receive a download link for your book. It's not free for you but it's free for them. That's the cheapest way. Sending paperbacks is, of course, more expensive.

Getting reviews is extremely difficult. I've contacted dozens of book review blogs and only a handful have messaged back, let alone accepted. It's a grind, not gonna lie. But keeping active in the community, especially Goodreads, can help you stumble upon reviewers who are asking for books to review.

Hi Cynthia, so one thing I think you should do immediately is nail down the genre for your book. Pick one, maybe add that it has elements of another, but you really must decide the genre so that you can articulate that to potential reviewers. That's something I've learned is off-putting, they want to know what kind of story they're getting into before they even start.

Hmm, based on your description, it sounds to me like this is more of a heart-warming tale of people coming together. It sounds like a sense of adventure is what you’re going for, if I’m not mistaken. If I were you, I’d advertise it as Adventure, but mention also the humor and the humanity involved, and discovering human relationships.

You gotta love the family members and friends who buy your book but then never read it! lol. I have several people I know who bought the paperback or kindle version a few months ago and still havent read it. It seems to be a common theme!

I use book funnel. I upload my books and the covers. I can gift a book to whomever then I can see when that person downloads the book. Cheaper for the author and the easist. The reader can choose which format they would like to download. Or you can send each person the format of your choosing through email attachment. No cost to you.

Synopsis:

Two scientists in a desperate race against time: can they develop a vaccine to combat the coronavirus ravaging the globe?
Wang Jing, a director at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in central China, has designed her whole life to prepare for such a moment. Living in the epicenter of the pandemic, she must focus all her energy to save her ancestral country.
On the other side of the globe, Bryce Paton, director of the Virology Laboratory at the National Institutes of Health, is eager to join the fight. His determination is amplified when the virus threatens those he adores the most.
With the death count increasing every day, the sense of urgency is overwhelming. Institutions, universities, laboratories, and foundations are all rushing to develop a cure before the entire population becomes decimated. The search becomes personal as family, friends, and loved ones succumb to the deadly disease described as COVID-20.
