New Moon question

It's answered in Eclipse. Bella says that if she hadn't known the pain of losing Edward, she wouldn't have known who she could not live without. So she loved Edward more than Jacob.

Edward is stable, mature, calm and cool. Jacob is an impulsive child. Bella loves both Edward and Jacob but her love for Edward is "unconditional." She cannot be with out him. She'd rather die then ever have to endure a day away from Edward.

Bella chose Edward because Meyers liked Edward more than Jacob THERE PEOPLE END OF STORY.

Jake's constant immaturity would be a turn-off to anybody. He's actually kind of a jerk a lot of the time. Sure, Edward can act like a boob once in a while himself, but Jake does it continually. Her choice makes sense to me.

I think her relationship with Jacob is more maternal. She mentions that she wants to protect him. Probably because of the age gap.

On the other hand, I think Jacob just isn't it. Jacob is so childish, its actually crazy. It seems like he knowingly copies what Edward does to get Bella's affection and it has the opposite effect because he does it with bad intentions.

I don't believe it was a hard decision.

Because Bella is completely infatuated with Edward and because she is stupid.

Because he's hard to have. Because Jacob is easy. She likes drama, because it makes life more exciting. Sad people are attracted to sadness. Sad people are mostly masochists. She likes how Edward makes her go crazy for his love. She doesn't really love either, she loves agony. Some people are just like that...

From a literary standpoint, the first book would not make sense if Jacob was going to be the final choice. He would have had to have a bigger role in the first book than he did. And I think Edward's character would have to be different as well. Like he would have to be more controlling than he already is. So he isn't as likable. (I personally don't like him, but his character flaws would have to be more noticeable than they already are.)

However, in Eclipse Bella "sees" her future with Jacob and says he is the natural course her life would have taken if the world was as it should be without vampires and werewolves. But they do exist, and Bella and Edward were meant to be...apparently.

I don't understand the big fuss over Edward/Jacob. In all honesty, reading all the books to the end, you can obviously see the emotions between Bella & Jacob were cause because of what would come out of Edward & Bella. Sure, reading New Moon & Eclipse may cause you to sympathize with Jacob, and many would believe that Edward does not deserve Bella after what he put her through, but sometimes a person needs to experience what one has lost before realizing what that person really signifies in one's life.

It will always be Edward. Never the wolf. Yuck ;)

In all honesty, I think it's because she didn't know who she was outside of Edward. Her entire life was built around him and when he left she was shattered. She had no direction for her life without him because even with Jacob she was obsessed with find ways to hear Edward. She had nothing outside of him in her mind so when he comes back that life she planned, everything she'd built around him was back, so of course she'd pick him. She's beyond obsessed with him and it doesn't have to change, grow or mature into anything other than that comfort of everything staying the same. If she were to ever be with Jacob she'd need to grow out of her obsession with Edward and she seemed very intent on not doing that, so it's Edward.

Because she is stupid.

Jacob was a friend, duh. And she loved Edward. Simple as that.

I know ALOT of people despise Twilight. They criticize the writing and the story. I would have to disagree. I'm one of the people those people love to ridicule! Lol! I tore through these books. I loved every one, with Twilight being my favorite. Bella's true love is Edward, not Jake. Although at times I did feel badly for Jake and wanted to slap Bella for the way she treated him, I completely understand why she did it. We need to remember too that Bella is just a teenager so their actions don't always make sense. Edward was the obvious choice for her, in my opinion. Every girl dreams of that guy that is sexy and intelligent, loving but dangerous, and intelligent but brawny. I'm lucky enough to have found him in real life! I guess that's why this story isn't so ridiculous to me. I really loved it and I think the movies were great too! Bella knows too, that she is meant to be in Edward's world. He's just the right fit for her. Her love for him was much deeper and meaningful than her love for Jake.
