I started the book to get a feel for it. It is good! This is book 1 of a trilogy. Is this a series buddy read? I'm in if so.

Grave Mercy Ch 1-11

(view spoiler)[ Book starts off running! Thank goodness Ismae has gotten away from her husband and father.

Chilling all the talk about killing and poisoning. But I can understand how Ismae would prefer this!

Ismae is too good at playing her roles and killing men.

Gabriel Duvall is very interesting. Ismae and Duvall will make a good couple.

Ismae' ability to communicate with the dead is intriguing. Really loving the story so far! (hide spoiler)]

Grave Mercy Ch 12-22

(view spoiler)[ Ismae considers Duvall questioning the saints wishes as blasphemy. Ironic since I would consider killing a person as wrong for a saint to command!

I do like the way Ismae refuses to obey Duvall's orders.

Interesting development that Duvall is a bastard son of the Duke.

Plenty of court intrigue and politics. Interesting!

Shocking the death of Ann's betrothed.

(view spoiler)[ Del bre (not sure of spelling, listening to audio) is such a creep! I can certainly understand why Ann does not want to marry him. Ann has definitely made an enemy!

Not sure the convent really wants Duvall’s mother to die?

Interesting the deal made with Ismae and Duvall’s Mother to swear fields to Ann.

I enjoyed the ending. Ismae saved Duvall. Krunnard got what he deserved.

(view spoiler)[I like the book so far. It is easy to read, chapters very short. It isn't the most original plot but interesting enough. Girls learning to be assains made me very happy.
I'm confused a little with the gods, I wish they would explain better.
I like the protagonist so far. I'm not really worried about the world building right now. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[It confuses me so much how Ismae changes a lot but at the same time became the same kick-ass. I like a lot Duval/Gavriel it would be interesting is he is the bad guy here but at the same disappointment.

(view spoiler)[I'm liking this book a lot to be honest. In some chapters I get bored but others I actually like it, I wanna know more but some theories bored me like who Annie's getting married.

I wish Duval get poisoned or someone try to poison him and Rienne tried to warn him or try save him, I don't know I love when Rienne uses her poison skills. (hide spoiler)]

I like the book, it reminds me of Seraphina and Throne of Glass (although I didn't like it). I guess it's disappointing that we got so little about the gods, as you guys said, it's very confusing. And I want to see Ismae in action, killing bad guys and fighting for her life. But now it looks like the plot is about "court problems" and meh. Books about court are interesting, but it wasn't what I was expecting from the book.

Unpopular opinion: I don't like Gavriel/Duval. He is like all those bad boy love interests and I don't like them.

(view spoiler)[I thought I would love this book, the first chapters were great. But I don't care about the politics and the romance. I was promised an assassin book :( I don't know if you guys have seen Arrow? I thought Ismae would be like Sarah Lance.

It's interesting as a plot that Ismae questions her beliefs but it makes me uncomfortable that all started because of Gavriel. Especially because he treats her like she is a child and he is supposed to be the love interest? Yep, very uncomfortable. (hide spoiler)]

I think Gavriel cares about her so he treats her like that is prettty normal to be honest but I didn't feel any romance between those two it seems force(?).

Chapters 1-14 (view spoiler)[ I am enjoying the book so far. There is convent of assassin's that carry out Mortain's wishes. I am pretty sure that someone at the convent isn't being honest, but I could be wrong. I think Ismae will either end up killing or falling in love with Duval. Possibly, both could happen.
