February Group Read #2: Last Days by Adam Nevill

I just read this one recently--my absolute favorite by Nevill, so far! I can't wait for this discussion. :)
I should be able to start on this next week. I've had it on my reading pile for a little while. About time I got around to reading it. :-)

I've read The Ritual and it was really good.

Agreed!
Agreed!

Haven't had much time to read lately so I'm only 75 pages in.
Something creepy is just getting started.

Were they all Adam Neville books, or a mix of other authors also? I'm curious, because I don't see anything like that with just Neville books, and Last Days is the only one I currently own on Kindle...

This is getting really good and really scary. I hope someone else is gonna read this too 'cause I may need a hand to hold to get through this.
Since I live on the Sonoran desert I'm getting a kick out of the reaction to it by the characters who aren't used to what a desert is like.
Story is starting to feel a bit repetitive though. Hope it picks up a bit soon.

Wendy B, I'm ready to hold your hand now. I'm at 16% and it's already getting really good & scary. I doubt I'll be able to read this one right before bedtime.

Yeah!
The scene in the empty house in England had me wanting to run and hide. I don't think I'd have been brave enough to go back in for the camera equipment.

I'm liking it so far too. Of course, a lot of the reviews say it slips a bit at the end and loses something of the good story line already built up.
I'm about 75% of the way through. I'd like to finish it today but don't think I'll have the time.

the only other book I've read by Adam Nevill was the ritual and the first half of that book was insanely better than the 2nd half. or I thought so. I hope this one doesn't repeat that. I wouldn't go back in that house (view spoiler)

Yep, Max could keep his money. I'd be outta there so fast...

Ah, OK, I see it now - not sure why it didn't show up in a search. Given the regular prices of those, it is a great deal, but of course as luck would have it, the only 2 books of his I own are 2 of the 3 in the set... :-) But thanks for the tip anyway!
I'll finally be starting this one tonight! Anyone else just getting started, or will I be playing catch-up?

Same here! Definitely made my "Top Reads" list--some parts (that I may wish weren't ;) ) are STILL clear in my mind!

I just finished it and pretty much agree but did love the book on the whole, found it pretty freaky (view spoiler)
I think it will make my top scares of the year list

I reckon this book will haunt my sleepless nights for a while to come some great imagery.

I agree with your comments on the ritual The 1st half was proper spine tingling and so tense but once you knew who the bady was it went downhill shame
With Last Days it starts stronger and ending goes a bit over the top but much better than second half of the ritual.

Well since it hasn't rained here in over a month and no rain is expected any time soon.... you're dang right I'd pay attention to a "water stain' on the ceiling and I'd run for the hills.
