Who would you spend the day with?

I want to hang with the rock god in the mall, in Christina Mcmullen's Going Green. That man had a passion for music, and what better way to die than with an instrument in hand, playing some death metal, while a zombie tries to chomp on my arm. Got nothing better to do at the end of the world.
Snugglepot and Cuddlepie because they are just too cute!
I'd like to spend the day with Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn of the Navajo Tribal Police from Tony Hillerman's books.

Man, there are just too many!
I'd definitely want to hang out with Calla from Travel Glasses, hopping into different times and wonderous worlds, trying not to break the law.
And I'd love to have Obb from The Two Lands: Return be my grumpy guide on a magical quest.
And finally, I'd love to get bird flying lessons from Randi in The Toymaker

Sherlock. Although he'd probably cause a ruckus.
Merlin because magic and Camelot are my true loves.

Cool!
Okay, so I've got several answers.
From books I've read by people in this group, I narrowed it down to two. I had a bit of a crush on Lilyth from The Lament of Sky. And since I'm no stranger to hanging with ghosts, I think I'd enjoy spending some time with Jake from The Picture of the Ghost.
As for books by the pour souls who had to get published the hard way back in the dark ages, Owen Meany and John Wheelwright from A Prayer for Owen Meany would make great companions.
As for my own work - probably Bill the Pickle Man in the Happy Clown Burger series.

Then I'd follow him throughout a day of jousting with his head of chambers, "Soapy" Sam Ballard, trading witty jabs at the Wagner-besotted Erskine-Brown, and in court making legal passes at Judge Roger "The Mad Bull" Bullingham.
We'd grab a bite of lunch at the Bar mess, or perhaps a steak and kidney pud' and a healthy pint 'round the local pub.
In the evening, we'd while away the time in Pomeroy's wine bar, quaffing Chateau Thames Embankment and listening to the old darling's jokes, courtroom anecdotes, and quotes from Woordsworth or Thomas Hood or Tennyson, until Rumpole would inevitably have to stumble off to the Temple tube station to find his sad way home to Froxbury Mansions on the Gloucester Road (La Maison) and his stern, unyielding, wife and head of household, Hilda: "She Who Must Be Obeyed."

If all the robots would be busy on that day, I'd go with Jin from Trespassers. I'd have so many questions to ask him and his alien friends. I'm obsessed with space after all.
I'd also like to spend time with Bogie Past Life Strife (Rise of the Discordant) I know the little demon wouldn't be going anywhere since he's kind of tied up to Blackbird. I'd spend the day at the bar with him any time.
There are probably a few others. I'll have to think about it.

Characters in a novel -- Detective Lynley and his partner, Barbara. Author of series -- Elizabeth George
I would like to spend the day with The Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs, from Jack and the Beanstalk.
The reason is obvious: It would just have the best stories to tell!

I'm going to admit that I would totally hang with Roodg, but in small doses. My grammar suffers enough on its own. ;p

Ah... Švejk... definitely a good way to close the day. I don't like beer, but he's a good chap and won't mind.

sAWESOME!
...
I would imagine Roodg's caps lock abuse would wear thin after awhile, however if you are hanging out with Roodg in the real world - there wouldn't be caps lock! A chilling thought.

Real world Roodg... Hmm.. I'd been thinking in game Roodg, but real world Roodg has a certain appeal.

I don't drink beer that often either, but I'd have beer or two with Svejk. He's definitely a good chap.

I want to hang out with real world Roodg as well. I have so many questions that only they could answer about... Roodg!
As for Going Green... I don't want to hang out with any of them. Even if they were interesting, they tend to get eaten, and I am not a fan of getting eaten!

I thought it was just my countryman....:-)))"
He has always been very popular here in Iceland, been published many times. The last time he was published was just a few years ago, and then with a introduction written by one of Icelands better writer. So we know him well. :-)

The book used to be popular here in Hungary as well. We are also close and related enough to understand the world and the problems he lives in. After all, we were forced into the same "big family" empire.
I still have the hardcover from the seventies.

Well to be fair, that would happen with like, most your characters as well. ;p

Fair enough! :D
Mysteriously green dog for the win!

Vincent Crummels from Nicholas Nickleby because that guy is hilarious, as are his plays.
The Dragon in Dragonworld. He seems like a nice guy.
And Sophie and Howl in Howl's moving castle, because those two are brilliant, and being in a moving castle would be awesome, especially one with a door that can open to anywhere.

Well, it's at least organic if nothing else. Plus seeing as how this is Middle Earth which seems fond of sending Hobbits on spontaneous adventures, those calories are going to come in handy ;)

Our cat has second & third breakfast every single day. And brunch, and lunch... and early tea, mid-afternoon tea, dinner, second dinner, supper, dessert, midnight snacks 1, 2, & 3, and often complains that he doesn't get fed enough. 'Poor thing only weighs 8.5 kilos, so he may be starving.

LOL! He can start a support group with my dogs. Honeatly, I'm such a horrible human for locking up the bag of kibble and not letting them gorge themselves all day. ;)

Hakon, was the updated version in English or in Icelandic?

George & Fred Weasley, Legolas, Tyrian Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen (only because of her dragons, assuming they wouldn't burn me to a crisp and stuff), Lestat (assuming he wouldn't either try to drink my blood or turn me into a vamp)

Hakon, was the updated version in English or in Icelandic?"
It's in Icelandic, and I think it is probably the fifth time it has been publish here in Iceland in printed form, and there is also an audiobook. This doesn't happen with many foreign books here because the market is so little. The problem with that translation though is that it is an abridged one. When it was first published in 1940s they probably thought it was too long to publish so it was cut somewhat down in size and that translation is still being used. I only know that because I came across the full English translation a few years back and read that one also.

So while I am indulging my fantasies I thought you might like to join me.
If you could spend the day with book characters, who would they be and why? They can be your own characters or someone else’s.
I’ll start, and since I’ve recently read some great books by members of this group, I’ll start with those.
If you’ve had the pleasure of reading about Kris from the Loralynn Kennakris series you’ll know why I’d want to spend the day with her. Besides the fact that she’s a badass, unapologetic, fighter pilot and is heaps of fun, she gets to blow stuff up. In space!!! Yes, please.
Next is Lucy from The Eyes of the Sun, I mean who wouldn’t want to spend the day learning how to kill vampires with Compact Pneumatic Autoinjectors. Plus she’s pretty awesome.
After that I’d go for a drink with Old Pops from Old Pops’ Last Beer and listen to all his stories in all their farfetched glory. Loved that guy!!!
Well I better get back to reality, I’m looking forward to your comments.
Have a great day all!
