The most I've paid was about $100 for Walk on the Wild Side: The Best Horror Stories of Karl Edward Wagner, Volume 2, and there are a few of Wagner's Kane books that I've been tempted to shell out about the same.

Arghhhh! I just discovered/realized that the Derleth book that would cost me about 2840$ if ordered via Amazon Germany is available for prices as low as 5$ on Amazon.com...
Since the astronomically high German prices for the Derleth volume appear to be a freak exception, this piece seems to be the genuine top of my wish list:
The Last Continent: New Tales of Zothique.
The price range starts at about 175$....

Abebooks seems to be an interesting alternative for stuff not available via Amazon, but it seems one needs a credit card.

I did pay $250 for a ticket to see Stephen King on his book tour for 11/22/63 (in Dallas no less!) and I got a signed copy of the book with the ticket.
But I do like $18 new HCs from Barnes and Noble.

While 100 books are a rather proud price for a paperback book, the price range should be still affordable for the average working class person or employee. I wonder if there are any books only available for astronomical prices that you would like to read and/or own?
The most expensive book on my list is Someone in the Dark by August Derleth. Amazon.de lists one available copy ( a 1980 reprint) at 2543 € and 18 cents. Keep in mind that the numbers get even higher if you convert the value from euros into dollars.
Well, the thought that I could ever afford to spend the 2543 bucks is rather utopistic, but perhaps the volume will either see a new reprint one day or re-publication as an ebook.
