Anna Marie | 5 comments Hi, My name is Anna Marie and I'm new to this group. I've recently written my debut novel, The Cottage on Lough Key. It's a good old-fashioned love story and I'm excited to share it with you. I'm also excited to learn more of what others are doing in the genre.
Looking forward to some goodreads! :)

message 11: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 2 comments Hello. I'm 29 and love reading. I like clean romances and though I am a practicing Christian, I'd appreciate some non-christian clean romances. Yes thery are hard to find.

What kinda books do you consider clean? Cuz I found some books on your shelf that I do not consider clean (more than kissing and even undressing scenes, or some sex sugested scenes) <--- though I usually skip those scene, I do not prefer reading them. So what does a clean romance means exactly?

Thank you for allowing me into your group. :)
Sarah

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 275 comments Hello Sarah and welcome to Clean Romances. Yes good ones can be hard to find. I write what readers have said are clean and I hope that lots of authors in this group will also write what you would call clean too.

Happy hunting! You've joined the right group.

message 13: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) When I want to read stories about romance that focus on the lives of the protagonists, not their bodies, I go back in time—to the work of British authors like Angela Thirkell, D. E. Stevenson, and Elizabeth Goudge; and of American authors like Emilie Loring. Any members of this group who have not read these authors, do a little searching and you’ll find treasure!

Cheryl Harrington (cherylcookeharrington) | 2 comments Hi Sarah, you might want to check out the Clean Romance Books web site - my books are there, along with many, many more. The site owner posts covers and blurbs from books that are "free of swear words, gratuitous violence, and sex". There are links to booksellers if you see something that appeals to you. Hope you find your next favorite read! http://cleanromancebooks.com/

Groovy Lee Welcome Anna, Rachelle, JC, and Sarah.

I love writing about true love and family, too. Also, like you, I'm a practicing Christian, but prefer books that are non-Christian wholesome. I know there are different levels of what's considered clean or wholesome, and I like romances that include passion and kissing.

When I'm done with my current projects, I plan to read some books by clean romance writers from here.

message 25: by Tandie (new)

Tandie Hi, I'm Tandie & I just joined the group. It's so hard to find recent, clean romances that aren't overly preachy or just cheesy. I also find that ratings are disproportionately high in Christian fiction - just because it has a good message doesn't automatically make it a great story. Looking forward to finding & sharing clean stories with you all!

message 26: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 275 comments Welcome Tandie. I'm sure you'll find lots of advice circulating in this group. There's also a thread for author promotions where you'll find recently published books and, something which is helpful - excerpts.

Hope you find lots!

Hi Sarah, I have just what you're looking for,
and I am not an author, just an avid reader!

Please feel free to check out my group, and our bookshelf at ~
Clean,Non Religious-Reads
https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/..., and also my bookshelves on my Profile page~
https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1...
especially 'Clean Romances'. Several are Inspirational, but not Christian, and many are Secular. I also have quite a few Amish-themed, which vary on how preachy they are, but I love to read them, a few at a time, then have to take a break from them, lol!

Seema Khan Peerzada (seemakhanpeerzada) | 2 comments Hi everyone! :)
I'm new to the group, and I would just like to say that it has really become difficult to come across good and at the same time 'clean' books! I look forward to learning from the members about newer and enjoyable books!

message 29: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Hi, Seema

Welcome! I agree about finding 'clean' book forums. I hope you like it here.

message 31: by Dave (new)

Dave (davecenker) I've officially been a member of this group for a few months now with nary a comment offered. So, I figured it would be good to start with a simple hello :-)

I'm probably in the minority here as a male member of a clean romance group, but I have always been and will always be smitten with a good clean love story.

My own writing (and first novel now in the hands of my editor) falls inside this same sub-genre. It is both refreshing and relieving to finally find somewhere that creates a comfy niche for exactly that type of clean romance. So, thank you all ~ and I look forward to jumping into some of the discussions in this group and getting to know everyone a bit better ;-)

message 32: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee So glad you're here, Dave. I've never met a male author who writes clean love stories. You are a rare one. All the best for your book. Can't wait to read about it.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Groovy. I look forward to discovering some new authors and taking part in engaging conversations as I become familiar with the group. Have a great weekend!

M.J. Brannigan | 6 comments Like Dave, I've been a (male) member of this group for a while, but only lurking - and reading comments, suggestions, and getting good leads on excellent books. Thought I had better stop in to properly say hello!

While I have read books that were "not so clean" to understand more about writing, in general, I mainly just love a good, clean, love story.

I feel fortunate to have taken my NaNoWriMo novel from last year all the way to hitting the publish button about a month ago. (shown below) It's a clean romance, even if it's a love story about two women. As a man, it felt only right to portray it as such.

I plan on doing another free download promo this coming Monday 9/26 on Amazon. If anyone would be interested, I will post a reminder this weekend as well as on Monday, if that's okay (?)

I look forward to getting more involved with group discussions. Right now, the whole "author" thing is new to me, so getting social media profiles set up, autoresponders, website, etc. - as well as starting the next book - has been occupying my time.

-All the best!

message 37: by T. (new)

T. Garland Hi, my name is Tammy a little about me. I'm 56, a widow, with two grown sons, and even though I enjoy lots of different types of romance books, I have decided to write a series of historical "clean" stories. I am interested in getting your insight into what you like to read. It seems the historical, mail-order brides are a popular storyline. Is this a favorite among those who read clean romances?

message 38: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Welcome, Tammy.

You can open your own thread and ask that very question. I'm sure you'll get some good input. I'd like to know what the replies will be myself.
