Jim | 21809 comments Went to https://www.google.com/fusiontables/D...

Directed by Google when I was looking for Tallis Steelyard. It offers free Lambent Dreams but look at the reviews!

Jim | 21809 comments I'm hoping a grown-up comes along and explains what's happening

Guy Portman (guyportman) I'm not that grown-up. Someone out there must know something, surely.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Some free book sites will infect your computer with malware when you download the book. Some were investigated by an IT chap on another forum and his malware protection went berserk.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments I think Pride's Children has been on 135 free download sites (it has NEVER been free) since I published; the bots do that.

I use a program called Blasty.com (they are looking for more free beta users): in Chrome, Blasty identifies sites where your IP (in my case, the book title) is showing up in Google results. If it is a site that doesn't have your permission, you blast the link, and the program will eventually remove it. It's very beta in that it seems to take a while to get them removed, but it's not costing me anything.

The free is supposed to entice people; I think people who use those sites get what they deserve. I don't even know if they actually provide you with the free download, but you would end up spending a lot of time cleaning up your credit rating and your computer if you were unlucky.

Perhaps I ought to pirate the reviews and claim that Yoda likes my book

Catherine Byrne (katarina66) | 49 comments I just found two of my books on this site. How do they get them? The actual English used by the poster is worth a laugh in itself.

Catherine Byrne (katarina66) | 49 comments I was going to tell them to take my books off immediately, but in order to do so I have to give them my details and I don't think that might be a good idea.

If there is a complaint from you on our web posts about a book that we made then are welcome to you to click on CONTACT US and we will immediately respond to you in a short time..

I use Blasty.com - a beta site where you list your content items. It searches (on Chrome) and asks you if the google finds violate your copyright. If they do, you click Blast - and eventually they are supposed to go away.

Unfortunately, these sites multiply like rabbits.

Those who download from them should beware: the sites are often phishing scams or load malware onto your computer if you go for the 'free' downloads (and I would think you would get what you deserve).

Catherine Byrne (katarina66) | 49 comments I contacted my publisher who said more or less the same thing.

Jim | 21809 comments your publisher probably read about it on Goodreads ;-)
