Victorians! discussion

Some characters seem like best friends because we become so absorbed in their lives for the space of the novel. Which Victorian character would you most like to give the gift of life? Why that character? What would you gain from them? How would they fit into modern existence? (No D'Arcys. He's not Victorian.)

Not a Victorian character, but this cautionary tale from the pen of Woody Allen, seems to lend itself to this particular question.
