I'm very excited to try this book out this month. I'm hoping to get started in the next week or so. Looking forward to some good discussion around this as well!

Danielle Esplin YAAAAY!!!! FINALLY! I started the first few pages... but I'm very busy working on my current Youtube video "How to do research for your novel." THIS will motivate me, though! The beginning is beautifully written. <3

Mary | 10 comments Hi everyone, I'm the moderator for this group's discussion...not really sure what that entails. But, I do LOVE this book! I'm excited for everyone to read it, and the discussion that will follow. Until then, enjoy getting lost in Summit Lake!

I started reading this book yesterday and had a terrible time putting it down so I could go to sleep. I'm really enjoying it so far (I completed chapter 8).

Mary | 10 comments Gem, I suffered the same affliction while reading this book!

So far I'm six chapters in and I am SO intrigued. I really like the main character, Kelsey so far. I love smart, strong, female protagonists that aren't afraid to get down to business.

VickiLee | 251 comments I fully enjoyed this novel. It is organized through two time periods, each from a different woman's perspective. I found the mystery nuanced with subtle hints, situations that are never completely explained that really lead me with eagerness to the end of the book. There is a hard edge of brutality evident in the murder itself which really made it difficult to guess who the killer was in a cast of relatively normal characters.

Sandysbookaday (taking a midwinter break) (sandyj21) | 2209 comments I rad this book in February and really enjoyed it. I rated it 4 stars, and it would have been 4.5 stars except for one thing that, to me, wasn't explained adequately. I will wait for the spoiler thread to discuss. *:D

I agree! I especially love that the females are realistic, they are flawed, they are human. I can relate to them and the choices that they each make are believable, which let me get fully lost in the writing.

I completed the book and thoroughly enjoyed it. I gave it four stars only because there were some little things in the resolution that made me go,What, no way.... and to me it's the little things that promote a four star book to a five star book.

I am having a hard time believing this is the author's first novel. It seem like he's been writing for years. I can't wait until his next book comes out.

Did you find the exchange between Kelsey and Rae in Chp 16 where Kelsey discusses what went on with her personal experience a little strange? I thought some of the wording was a little off and I also thought it strange that she would discuss such a personal and painful event with someone she didn't know.

It felt odd to me because there wasn't really anything in previous chapters that built a basis for her trust. I thought it strange that a woman who wouldn't feel comfortable with a counselor felt comfortable with this gossipy and somewhat nosy person. I feel a little suspicious of Rae and her forward questions. I'm afraid that Kelsey confiding in her wasn't a good idea! I'm on Chapter 17 now, so we'll see if I just read too much into it.

Ok guys - I'm finding it really implausible that Kelsey would discuss so much of the hard-won details of this case (the secrets she had to break into a building to find) with some random person! Why would a best-selling investigative journalist give away important components to her story before she wrote about it?!

What kind of investigative journalist goes around saying "We're friends?" "You'd keep a secret if I asked you, right?". These are not 15 year old teeny boppers talking about their school crush. These are grown women talking about a heinous crime!
