Is this children's, YA, or adult? Remember the cover or covers? Is the first book newly published, the second, or was the whole series published recently at the same time? How many books are in the series, that you know of?

i am reckoning my brain, I think the world had ended that is why I am thinking dystopian fiction , that the books are all gone or limited to certain people. It has a male author..this is all i can remember sorry.

Aquifer fits - there are no books, they are forbidden. The main character finds a few in an old cave early in the story and he hides them. Though I'd venture there are probably quite a few dystopians with "no books."

Fahrenheit 451 is the first one that comes to mind. Also perhaps The Last Book in the Universe.

Can you recall anything about the plot? Like, are the main characters in search of books, or does one of them have a book and that's really rare? Or is the absence of books just part of the setting not part of the plot? Ally Condie's Matched trilogy is set in a world without books, but books aren't central to the story.
