Katrina, we are on the same team in SS, so it's nice to see a familiar name :)

Five Alive?
Jive Five?
Hawaii Five-oh wait that doesn't work
As for captain, I'm going to be away for a week and a half so I probably shouldn't be captain. I'll be reading and posting reviews, but there's no guarantee I'll be online on any particular day to roll, etc.

Review: I read this series out of order. This book references characters and situations from previous books so I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read it in order (my bad).
That said, I did enjoy this book. I liked the characters, found the plot interesting and thought the medical information was utterly fascinating. Even joining late, I can see character development through this book and I'm very interesting in returning to earlier books in the series to see how the characters got to this point. As for this installment, I learned a lot about organ donation and the ethics involved as well as black market body parts.
There appears to be a plot that carries on between the books - Isabella and her past with Bill. More questions are asked in this book and I don't think the reader is given a lot of answers so I look forward to reading more about that in earlier books as well as future books.

Review:
I haven't read the other books in this series for a while so it was a little difficult to try to remember all the characters (all the couples too). I don't remember specifically everyone's story, but I don't think it's completely necessary to know that for reading this.
Makenna is a lone wolf working at a shelter that helps other lone shifters. She tracks down the shifter's families or closest relatives to see if they can be taken in or re-homes them with other packs that are willing to take care of them. She has never seen herself as the type of shifter that wanted a pack, even though her wolf wouldn't mind.
Ryan is intense. He doesn't show emotions easily and he's suffered a traumatizing experience in his past. When Makenna approaches him about a young wolf shifter that is the son of a deceased cousin, Ryan is surprised that she isn't intimidated by him. It revealed something deeper about Ryan to see him interact with Zac who was completely afraid of anyone except for people at the shelter.
I always like when the author does a good job of showing growth in their characters. Wright managed to make Ryan into more than he was without changing things that are integral to his character. Makenna, also, changes from the beginning to the end.
It will be interesting and fun to see who gets paired up next.

How it fits: 5th book in a Crossfire series
Review:
This book is about the time when Eva and Gideon was planning the wedding, bachelor and bachelorette party, wedding and honeymoon events and all in between. They are stronger then they ever were.
I really enjoyed this book and happy how the book ended.

Katherine,
As long as shelby's review is visible, anyone designated can roll and you can fix up your post when you've rested.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Ian Fleming

How Fits: #451 on I Saw the Movie & Read the Book
Read: (7/17)
Rating: ★★★★
It's really interesting to read this book as an adult growing up having adored the film. So interesting to see what things we lifted right from the story itself and what were adapted to make it more interesting for a film audience. The book is very sweet and fun but the movie had more dramatic impact I think. The elements they modified and changed worked very well. And while I wouldn't call it a faithful adaptation, I would still call it a good one. They took the elements of the book that were so lovely and kept those, while changing things to make it a bigger story for the screen, especially playing up the fantastical elements of the story.
It's sad Ian Fleming never wrote more books of this group and their adventures I'm sure they would have been fantastic and amazing. I'm not sure how I feel about continuing the series knowing that someone else wrote the later books.

How it fits: 1.5th book in a Frenched series
Review:
I was disappointed in this book. I was looking for the similar romance book like Frenched, but why on hell Lucas would let his ex-girlfriend live with him. And Mia… Why she forgiven him so quickly I don’t even understand. One moment she was angry, the other they were in bed and everything was forgiven. I hope Coco book will be as great as Frenched.

Book: After the End by Amy Plum

Review:
I didn't really read the description for this book before I read it. I had it put into a challenge that I wanted to get done, and it's been sitting on my shelf so I thought, why not?
I was completely thrown for a loop. I think it was better that I didn't read the description. I thought this book was a Dystopian and some how this girl needed to do something (what? I don't know). Typical Dystopian things. Run from zombies? Robots? An insane President? Sure.
It wasn't any of those things. Juneau is in line to be the next Sage for her Clan (sort of like a shaman/healer), and Whit has been teaching her the ways of Yara (a connection of all things that can be tapped into to find answers like where to find food, are people coming, etc.). Her village is in a secluded area of Alaska, and the kids are told never to go out of the perimeter of their territory for risk of being exposed to a WWIII torn, radiation soaked, environment. Juneau goes on a hunting trip and when she comes back all of her clansmen are gone. She thinks they've been taken by Brigands, a dangerous group of people who live in the refuse of WWIII. However, when she leaves the perimeter of her clan's territory everything she has ever known is called into question.
Miles just wants to go graduate and go to Yale in the fall. But, he also can't keep down his rebellious needs, so he is forced to work for his father after he is expelled and his admission has been postponed. When he discovers his father is looking for a strange girl, he thinks he can get back on his father's good side by finding her for him.
This book was a little bit of a drag in the beginning. But once the story really picked up pace it was exciting. I don't really feel like it's better than any other exceptional book out there which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. It was good but it wasn't that good.
The ending is a cliff hanger which I think contributes to it's 4 star status. I am very interested in what happens next to Miles and Juneau.

I would like to now how much you still need to read. And if you will need more time.

Spot #11 ~ First in a series

Book: Thyme of Death (China Bayles #1)
Finished: 07/20
Rating: ★★★
Review:
This is a fairly old series, I believe this was published in 1995`ish originally so I probably shouldn't expect a whole lot overall. But it's a long running series (20+ books and counting) so I can only assume it gets better.
As the first in a series, I expected a little more/better introduction to the characters and the town. Or maybe just a better balanced introduction - don't stop to tell me how the two geriatric sisters are dressed and about their personalities when we're in the last 50 pages!! It's too late and I need you to get to the point and, in this case, tell me that I was right about who did it.
Which is another thing that bothered me. Although the more mysteries I read, the more I see the resolution coming, but still.

Fish Stick Fridays by Rhys Ford

How Fits: Series #1
Read: (7/20)
Rating: ★★★★½
So Zig's my new favorite! I love this little girl. She's snarky in all the best ways and just trying to rediscover her place. She's slowly learning how to be a kid again after going through hell before her uncle finally got custody of her.
Deacon is determined to do right by his niece. He's turned his entire life around to make space for her and give her the best life possible. A new town and a new start seem like the most perfect idea. He'll own his own garage and try to give Zig some parameters by which to order her life. Having trouble show up on their doorstep was never his plan, and neither was falling for his business neighbor down the street.
Lang has a troubled past of his own. Since the disastrous end to his last relationship he hasn't let anyone new into his life. But when Zig and her uncle come barrelling into his bookstore opening up his life seems like a forgone conclusion. Lang is such a sweetie. I love his confusion and delight in watching Zig.
This story was surprisingly sweet in spite of the built in suspense and mystery. I'd give it 4.5 stars overall as I felt a little cheated out of the build up to Lang and Deacon. Their coming together felt a little rushed, but they were so wonderful together I didn't mind that much. I'm curious to see where this series goes in the future (hello Lang's got the perfect twin who definitely needs to be ruffled!). Great new series as per usual for Ms. Ford.
