This is fan fiction so not all of the elements are mine. I didn't create the song it already existed. Helena St. John stood at the brick wall between Platform 9 and Platform 10. Her mum and sister Louise stood with her. Helena came from a long line of witches and wizard. When her acceptance letter into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had come Helena's parents had been overjoyed. They had both graduated from Hogwarts and Helena was the first of their two children olden enough to go. Helena had grown up around magic. Her parents were both pure bloods but their family had nothing against muggles. However this was the first year she'd be able to practice magic on her own with her very own WAND!!! She put her hand in her pocket to stroke the beautiful new wand they'd picked up on their shopping trip to Diagon Alley. It was an extraordinary 13 inch, ebony, slightly springy, with dragon heartstring core. Helena still couldn't believe she had one all to herself. Helena's mother nodded encouragingly at her. This was her first time making the trip to Platform Nine and Three Quarters. She gripped her cart that held her trunk, robes, books, and screech owl Katrina and then she ran straight towards the brick wall. Helena emerged onto a beautiful platform where a sleek, red train with smoke billowing out of it waited for her. The Hogwarts Express. She hugged her mom and Louise good bye and then climbed aboard the Hogwarts Express. She found an empty compartment and settled herself in. Suddenly, a boy knocked on the door. "Is any one sitting here," he asked as he pointed towards the seat across from her. "No, you can if you'd like," He sat down and then offered her his hand. "Hello, I'm Albus Severus Potter," he said warmly. "I'm Helena St. John, are you Harry Potter's son?" she stammered. "Yep," "Oh......wow,"she replied dumbly. "So you'll probably be in Gryfindor right?" "My dad says I could be in Slytherin too. He'll be proud no matter where I get sorted," Albus said enthusiastically with a huge smile. "What about you? Where do you think you'll get sorted?" "Everyone in my family was a Hufflepuff but I'm afraid I won't be. My mums told me she'd be happy anywhere I get sorted but I can tell she really wants me to be a Hufflepuff. It's just I have dreams and aspirations! I love my family but I'm not like them I think I'll end up in Ravenclaw or Gryfindor," "I don't think it'll really matter to your mum I guess we'll see in a little bit," replied Albus. A knock sounded on the door. "Anything from the trolley, dear?" asked a sweet older witch. " I'll have two chocolate frogs and a box of Beartie's Ever Flavor Beans, please," said Helena. "What about you dearie," the witch asked as she nodded toward Albus. "I'll have two pumpkin patties and a licorice wand please," The rest of the ride Helena and Albus stuffed themselves with sweets and made small talk. She learned he had a pet cat he'd brought named Sadie and that his wand was a 10 inch, Black Walnut, supple flexibility, with a unicorn hair core. Somewhere along the ride they both changed into their robes. When the train finally pulled to a halt, Hagrid the groundskeeper directed all the first years to a dock of boats. They all rowed towards the massive castle in the distance terrified for the sorting. When the boats finally docked Hagrid got the first years into alphabetical order for the sorting ceremony. The doors to the great gal, swung upon and the four tables all looked at the terrified first years as they paraded to the front of the hall, Professor McGonagall leading the line. Hogwarts new headmistress Luna Lovegood and then the sorting hat was brought forth. It began to sing. Oh you may not think I'm pretty, But don't judge on what you see, I'll eat myself if you can find A smarter hat than me. You can keep your bowlers black, Your top hats sleek and tall, For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat And I can cap them all. There's nothing hidden in your head The Sorting Hat can't see, So try me on and I will tell you Where you ought to be. You might belong in Gryffindor, Where dwell the brave at heart, Their daring, nerve, and chivalry Set Gryffindors apart; You might belong in Hufflepuff, Where they are just and loyal, Those patient Hufflepuffs are true And unafraid of toil; Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind, Where those of wit and learning, Will always find their kind; Or perhaps in Slytherin You'll make your real friends, Those cunning folks use any means To achieve their ends. So put me on! Don't be afraid! And don't get in a flap! You're in safe hands (though I have none) For I'm a Thinking Cap! [2] After the song they began to call students up starting with the A's. Albus was third in line, Helena was fifteenth. They stared with Abby Bills. The sorting hat contemplated for about thirty seconds before it called out Gryfindor. The Gryfindor table burst into applause. Adam Hugh was almost immediately Ravenclaw. Albus was next. He walked nervously towards the stool and placed the hat on his head. Helena wished she could hear what it was saying because it took almost three minutes before the hat screeched out Slytherin! The Slytherin table thundered with applause. Harry Potter's son had been sorted into Slytherin instead of Gryfindor. Albus took a seat at the Slytherin table, beaming. More names were called but Helena hardly heard them. Finally, she hear it. Helena St. John. She walked towards the stool and carefully set the hat on her head. "Mhmmm what have we here? Ahh a St.John. I'm not sensing the usual Hufflepuff-ness. Maybe Gryfindor. Mhmm I don't think so a little too goal driven. Perhaps Ravenclaw. You do great things in Ravenclaw. Or perhaps..Slytherin an odd choice but you'd do well. The hat was closing in on about a minute and a half when it finally yelled Slytherin. Surprised and delighted Helena took her seat next to Albus beaming.
