Caleb | 9 comments Marcus Luttrell was a man that went through more in just a few months than the majority of Americans would go through in their entire life. He had family who he was separated by an ocean from. He went on one of the most life-threatening journeys that any man has ever taken. But most importantly, he lost brothers in battle. In the back of his book he notes some of his brothers who lost in the hands of the Taliban. He even lost his " Chief Petty Officer Dan Healy" due to "the rescue helicopter being hit by a rocket-propelled grenade fired by the Taliban."

Then why did write this book? Why would he relive the things that caused him so much desperation and pain? Its simple. Because otherwise, it would have been an injustice to the men who were not as fortunate to survive. Luttrell was lucky enough to not be killed while on this mission. The hills of Afghanistan are some of the most dangerous areas in the world. Those hills have been a good reason why it has taken so long to get out of the middle east in the first place. He is very appreciative to be alive, but he knows that without the sacrfices of his fallen brothers, he would not have lived to tell the story, and that is why he wrote.

I have enjoyed reading this book and it has given me another opportunity to really appreciate and have thankfulness for the sacrifice that our troops have given for our freedom.
