C.L. Lynch (cllynchauthor) | 316 comments So, I wanted to have my book up on Netgalley during the pre-publication process, and I planned to do it through IndieReader, which advertises a 3 month slot for $150. I purchased it, and now they've emailed to tell me that they don't offer this service any more (so why is it still available for purchase, I want to know?).

I don't want to pay $400 to Netgalley fro 6 months that I don't need if there is a cheaper way. Does anyone know of any trustworthy Netgalley coop options?

Ian Copsey (ian_d_copsey) | 69 comments You can go through Broad Universe for $45 per month:

M.A. Demers | 31 comments Keep in mind the following:

1. Buy at least two months. One month is not long enough as many members download anything that looks interesting and you may be in a queue. Once your title is no longer active, the user has only 3 weeks to read the book and then it is removed from their device. But anything more than two months is likely a waste of money.

2. You may need to chase up reviewers. Many are happy to post to Amazon, Kobo, etc (and do so automatically), but others only do so upon request. If they have posted a review to NetGalley or to their own website, contact and ask them if they would mind posting to the retailers' sites. I got several Amazon reviews this way.

3. It is OKAY to contact NetGalley reviewers. It is even expected, so don't feel shy about doing so. Just don't attack anyone who leaves a negative review. Ignore it and move on to the positive reviewers.

4. If you see that there are people who downloaded your book but have not left a review, at the end of the two months contact them and politely remind them the book will be removed from their device in 3 weeks. That usually prompts them to read your book if they truly intended to.

5. NetGalley reviewers are enamoured with advance review copies. Being the first to read and review has cache with them. So once your book is ready for publication (or nearly so), create an advance listing on Amazon and Kobo, etc. then upload to NetGalley 2-3 months BEFORE you publish. This way you potentially have positive reviews prior to publication.

M.A. Demers | 31 comments Also, some of the aggregators offer NetGalley. InScribe Digital does, but it is also one of the more complex aggregators to work with.

Ian Copsey (ian_d_copsey) | 69 comments Thanks for that additional info M.A. Very useful. I'm coming to the end of my 3rd (and final) month...

The Bookclectic (thebookclectic) Oh my goodness C.L.... if you are listing you book on NetGalley I will be all over it! I'm on NetGalley. I have been stalking your book ever since you asked for blurb opinions!

M.A. Demers | 31 comments I have a correction: the files expire up to 55 days after the book has been archived (ie., the publisher's paid time is up); publishers pick the number of days. Through InScribe Digital I was told 21 days, though that may have since changed; I couldn't find any updates in their system.

Thanks for all of that! Yes, I wanted to list for three months, as I am currently getting my print ARCs ready to mail out and plan to publish in December. Since I fit the target description of Broader Universe perfectly I signed up for a membership, which will pay for itself in the first two months of NetGalley.

@Emnoir - I'm blushing! Can't wait to hear what you think!

I can't wait to see this on NetGalley! I just checked... it's not there yet! ;) Thank goodness I only have out 1 book from there. I'd better hurry up and finish that, so I'll be free when yours shows up!

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) Cameron publicity in the UK also offer a package for authors wanting to use NetGalley. I've not used them myself, but they're a reputable organisation.
