Valentina (vroveri) | 12 comments I've been debating whether or not to start reading the Chicagoland Vampires series. It sounds like each book has a pretty intriguing plot with an Elena/Raphael type romance (although with a much slower development).

One of my concerns is that the series is super long, and it doesn't seem like it's been finished yet. I'm usually not one to start such a long series because I end up getting bored of the same characters pretty soon. I think the longest series I've ever read was 7 or 8 books, and that was only bc it was extremely good, with just the perfect blend of steamy romance, action, suspense, and humor. Another question of mine is how slow/steamy is the romance here? From the book synopsis, it seems like it's a very slow build.

All in all, can someone either convince me or dissuade me from the series?

I enjoyed the first few. That said, around book 5, I started popping in and out of the series, picking and choosing whichever books seemed the most appealing. I didn't feel like I missed much by skipping certain ones. So you could try it and just kind of pick and choose.

Matie’s Reads (matiekurray) I enjoyed them:)

lorii (Loriidae) The pace was too frenetic for me. I read 1-6 stopped 2/3 through 7. The books are one continuous story. Just got to be too much drama. Everything that could go wrong went wrong all the time at the worst possible moment. Most of the time felt like a bad soap opera but the resolution of the plots was always good enough to ensure starting the next book.

Edit: I just realised the banner says I rated it 5 stars. ... that was the first one, I really enjoyed that one. The next few I gave 4 stars because the endings were good. And finally a 3 for the one I didn't quite finish.
