Adriano Bulla (adriano_bulla) | 2 comments Hello,

I was wondering if it would be possible to have a count of downloaded previews in the author dashboard.

Thanks,

Ade

Hello Mary,

Yes, like the sample ebooks on the books' pages...

Jaclyn (jaclyn_w) | 417 comments Hi Adriano!

I'm happy to say that you can view this number on your author dashboard. If you scroll down to the e-books heading, you should see "book title (x downloads)".

Let me know if you're having trouble!

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 299 comments Maybe it's me, but I have scrolled and can't see anything. Would love to.

Or is that under 'word stats?'

message 6: by Jaclyn (new)

Jaclyn (jaclyn_w) | 417 comments Anna, to clarify this will be for the excerpts you can upload on the Goodreads side, and not for the linked Amazon previews. If you'd like to add a sample on Goodreads, here's how:

1. Navigate to your Author Dashboard.

2. Beneath the book in question, click on "add preview".
Use the "Choose File" button to upload your ebook excerpt in PDF format. Your file should only contain the excerpt of the book. If you add a PDF that contains your entire book, the entire book will be available on the site.

3. Choose which permissions you'd like to allow using the radio buttons (either "Members can only read this preview in their browsers" or "Members can read this preview in their browsers and download it").

4. Click on "Upload File."

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 299 comments Good heavens! The previews are already there. I know I didn't upload them, so thank you Goodreads and thank you Jaclyn for helping me to find them.

But I still can't see x number of downloads!

Once your preview is active, if after a few days there's no number next to it, it means there hasn't been any downloads.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 299 comments Ah... sigh.

Anyone want to take a look?

message 10: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Harstad | 54 comments I looked, but not sure where the previews were. I did put all 3 of your books on my shelf, however. Still don't know my way too well around Goodreads yet. That's why this group is so awesome.

message 11: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 299 comments Thank you, Pamela! I found the sign for the preview, it's a little, open book right underneath the cover pic.

How right you are, belonging to Goodreads is definitely a good thing!

message 12: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Harstad | 54 comments Thanks. Will check it out.

Donahue Silvis (katiedon36) | 26 comments Under my books I don't see anything which says add preview. It show previews, all of which are wrong. How do I correct it?

I tried too. Went to your goodreads site. Didn't see "previews".

D. B. Silvis"

1. Navigate to your Author Dashboard.

2. Beneath the book with the wrong extract, click on "Preview".
On the following screen you can choose to delete the current preview. Once it's removed, you can then use the "Choose File" button to upload your ebook excerpt in PDF format. Please keep in mind that your file should only contain an excerpt of the book - be careful not to upload the entire book.

3. Choose which permissions you'd like.

4. Click on "Upload File."

Let me know if you have any trouble!

message 16: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Harstad | 54 comments Still couldn't find the book symbol.

message 17: by Donahue (new)

Donahue Silvis (katiedon36) | 26 comments Jaclyn,
Thank you, I did delete the wrong previews. However, I could not find a "Choose File" button or "Upload File."
It showed a "Browse" tag. In trying to download, it did not locate the items I have listed in my documents file, of each book.
What am I missing?

message 18: by Jaclyn (new)

Jaclyn (jaclyn_w) | 417 comments Pamela - which book symbol are you trying to locate? If it's the Preview link, like the one displaying under the book cover here, please note this will only appear for books that have an associated Kindle edition and a sample available on Amazon.

D.B., if you're following the steps listed in message 6 above, you should be able to browse your personal files for the extract. Please keep in mind that only files in a PDF format will be selectable for upload. Hope that helps!

message 19: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Harstad | 54 comments Thanks, Jaclyn. Got it.

message 20: by Donahue (new)

Donahue Silvis (katiedon36) | 26 comments Jaclyn,
I did as you suggested. When I view preview it shows the new blurb I put in. However, when I click on "Cop on the Hook", the book I changed, it still shows the old blurb.

Jaclyn (jaclyn_w) | 417 comments D.B., would you mind sending your PDF preview and some screenshots to us at support (at) goodreads (dot) com so we can help out?
