Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy discussion

The main character is a female (i think thief?) that speaks with a god that only she knows about because most of the people that worshiped him in secret were murdered, there were a lot of nobles killed, thats how the story starts with the constabulary investigating.

The setting is a polytheistic society, theres a lot of different gods and this one god in particular is weak now that he has no worshipers and is only living through the main character. Its not set modern\urban fantasy society.

They were something of a secret society of nobles that when they worshiped that god in secret lots of good fortune rained on them.

This sounds really similar to Kushiel's Dart, but not quite.
