Saturday is perfect for going out and having a couple of drinks maybe (for adults only). A whole bunch of public and personal transportation tools would gladly get us anywhere, where these drinks are served in a sociable atmosphere.
Don't know whether riding a segway can be considered DUI and I wouldn't advise attempting to drive a subway train, but what's best suited for your Sat's transportation needs? -:)

Here in North Carolina, we'll get a story every now and then for someone receiving a DUI on a lawnmower, so I would say you'd get one for that Segway. Might be better to stick with the subway.

I tend to get about New York City on a mixture of subway and Citibike (the local bike-sharing scheme). Not sure I'd ride one of the latter after a skinful; you need to take enough care even when you're sober...

Cool way to get around. Don't know who started first, but it seems quite a few cities around the globe offer municipal bikes rent on 'hop and drop' principle.

So, segway or subway?

I've often wondered about and envied countries that have a pub culture. "Going down to the local pub" seems culturally ingrained in some European societies. I wonder if police there are as strict about arresting people for DUI as they are in the States. I wouldn't think of going to one of the 3 bars in my town, downing five beers, and driving home, especially on a Segway :-) I'd be surrounded by cops and arrested for having a .08 alcohol level. Is it different in Europe?

Local pubs culture is more widespread (my impression, not any kind of expertise) among beer/heavier spirits drinking nations of Northern/Central Europe: UK, Germany, Czech, etc, while for wine/grappa/sangria drinking Central/Southern Europe of France, Italy, Spain, etc it's more cafes, restaurants, tapas bars..
Eastern Europe is a bit different.
DUI is a grave offence in most places, however I heard bribes to road police in former USSR could've resulted in police escort for a drunk driver instead of a fine -:)
