Alissa Patrick (apatrick12211) NOVEMBER HOLIDAYS

In the USA we have our holidays of Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving, which deserve some love, but what about the weird, wacky obscure ones as well?
Thanks to the fun website, http://holidayinsights.com/moreholida..., which lists different fun holidays to celebrate, I decided to just pick a few & assign a few fun task for each. Choose one for each day, choose them all, choose as many as you'd like. Happy November!!

November Challenge
0/6 or
0/18 if ya feeling frisky =)

1. Nov 5th- Book Lover's Day!
Book Lovers Day encourages you to find a place in the shade to relax with a good book.Book reading is a great hobby. It's an important one, too. Employers look for it on resumes. Reading is educational, informative, and relaxing. It makes us both smarter and happier people.

-Read a book over 300 pages OR
-Read a book in one sitting OR
-Read the oldest book in your TBR

2. Nov 12th- Chicken Soup for the Soul Day
It's a celebration about you! According to the creators of the book series of the same name, Chicken Soup for the Soul Day was created as ".... a celebration of who you are, where you've been, where you're going, and who you will be thankful to when you get there!"We suggest you take this day as a celebration of the value and healing of chicken soup, especially mom's chicken soup.

-Read any Chicken Soup for the Soul book OR
-Read a memoir OR
-Read a book with a chicken or any farm animal on the cover

3. Nov. 16- National Fast Food Day
Americans are always fast moving, always in a rush. As a result of our fast moving lifestyle, we need to eat quickly, and are usually unwilling or unable to wait long for our food to be prepared. As a result, fast food restaurants, came into existence. They have been a part of the American restaurant scene since the early 1950's.
Participating in National Fast Food Day is easy. You are probably already doing so, on a regular basis. All you have to do, is eat or drink at a fast food restaurant today. To be a full fledged participant on this special day, eat in fast food restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

-Read a book with any food on the cover OR
-Read a "guilty pleasure" book (this can be any genre- romance, scifi, steampunk- that others may consider silly or 'foofy' aka No classics lol) OR
-Read a book with a brightly colored cover

4. Nov 20- Absurdity Day
Isn't it totally absurd? Crazy or not, Absurdity Day is staring you right in the face. Some days are truely illogical and senseless, exactly the definition of Absurdity Day. So, by intent error, or just through surfing the net, you've stumbled upon this special, senseless day.....how absurd!

-Read a humor novel OR
-Read a book with a great plot twist OR
-Read the 99th book on your TBR

5. Nov 24- All of Our Uncles are Monkeys Day
Now here is a very special day, if there ever was one.
Today is the anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin's book: On the Origin of Species in 1859. His controversial theory turned the world upside down, in tis thinking of how we came to be. And, it remains controversial to this day. This very special day for all homo sapiens is also called "All Our Uncles Are Monkeys Day".

-Read a science fiction novel OR
-Read a nonfiction novel OR
-Read a book where the title of the book can be found in the word EVOLUTION (ex. Everything, Everything= E, O Pioneers!= O)

6. Nov 28- Red Planet Day
The planet Mars is referred to as the "Red Planet" because it appears red in color. Red Planet Day honors our celestial neighbor, the fourth planet in the solar system. Is Mars truly red in color? Scientists debated this question, even after the Mars Rovers landed and began to explore the planet. Why? Because the lenses used to take photos are tinted.

-Read a book with a red cover (must be 50%) OR
-Read the 4th, 14th, 44th or 144th book on your TBR OR
-Read a book about aliens

Karen GoatKeeper (goodreadscomkaren_goatkeeper) | 100 comments Choices, choices. Let's see. I am half way through two books that qualify. Man o'War was the first book on my TBR list. A Walk in the Woods is a memoir. That takes care of 1 and 2. Now to find books for the other choices.
I finished both but now have a problem. I requested a book: America's Snake; some time ago and it just came in. Maybe next month I can stay with the challenge.
