With January fast approaching, here is the place to post any goals you're setting for your reading in the new year. Hopefully we can encourage each other to stay motivated.

I'm aiming for 85! And I want to participate in only monthly challenges, I never seem to complete yearly ones...

85 is good! And that's why we have fun challenges for all the yearly stuff, not anything we really track. I just like to set myself some goals. :)

My goal is 200. :) I also and going to make a dent on my TBR shelf of books I already own. :)

That's good. :) I'm trying not to focus too much on numbers, so I'm keeping mine at 50. I want to read a lot of long books and don't want to pressure myself with reading them too quickly.

I have several goals this year.

I reached my GR goal of 65 but I was trying to go for 100, didn't quite make it but got really close. So this year I'm going for 150 books!
I want to make a big dent in my physical TBR pile.
And last I want to read more BOTM books from book clubs.

Great goals, Victoria. I think it's important to make time for reading. I don't typically read as many as you, but I think fewer than around 50 for me would be insane. I go crazy when I'm not reading. Good luck with 300!

It's day three and so far I'm a book ahead of schedule. Hoping to keep this up. :D

My fiance's grandma challenged me to read 300 books this year. Hopefully I can beat it.

I want to try to read 100 books this year - I need to read 9 books a month.

I got 250. A lot of those were novellas which helped get me to my goal. Right now to start my new year off I am reading Flowers in the Attic by VC Andrews and The NeverEnding Story by Micheal Ende.

I'm sure you can reach 300 then.

I've been falling behind on my goal a bit so far but it's also what pushes me to read. :)

I try to read a novella a day as well as a regular book so I can keep up. That's my goal at least. :)

That's a good idea. Do you have planned out what you want to read or do you just decide as you go?

Half and half. I'm a mood reader so I can't always read what I planned but I don't like having to choose from a long list either. So I'll plan for about 20-100 books and generally choose from there. :)

I know how you feel. The first couple day of Janurary I didn't feel like reading but then I finally picked up a book that has gotten me out of my slump that I have been in since December. And I am excited to announce I am almost done with my first book of 2017!!!

Thank god for manga or else I would still be 10 (and counting) books behind schedule. Now I'm one book ahead! :D

Yay! It's a good thing you enjoy manga. I've read a few graphic novels, but I actually read them slower than I do books. Pictures distract me (and sometimes give me a headache).

The format was the only thing I had to get use to with manga. That and the poor grammar at times. lol. :)

I guess they are mostly translations, right? Is that why the grammar is bad?

Yes. The manga are all originally in Japanese so they have to be translated to English. :) Plus these are free translations done by kind people in there free time so I'm not too hung up on the grammar. I'm just grateful to be able to read the manga for free. :)

That's what I thought. That would take some getting used to.

Plus they don't really translate the 'sounds' to English so that's also something to get use to and a learn. :) Thankfully I know Hirigana and Katakana so that helps but usually they are really small so they can be hard to see. :/
