I'm reading Madeline Martin's HIGHLAND SPY. It's a Medieval romance, first in a new series, and comes out January 10th. Next up is Manda's READY SET ROGUE. Can't wait to dive into this one!
Hope you enjoy it, PJ!
Unfortunately, I'm still in a reading slump. I didn't even complete my Goodreads Challenge for the year, for the first time since I started doing it! Hopefully the new year and slew of new books coming out will correct it. And in the meantime, I'm watching The Crown on Netflix.

Manda, my December was like that until the very end. I just couldn't get into a book. The Crown is on my watch list.
I'm reading Emma Cane's Spiced Apple Winter today and continuing to reread a series I love. The series shall remain nameless until after Manda reveals this week's Monday Puzzler. :)

I loved this series too! Very Entertaining!

I'm trying to decide which book to read next...there are quite a few new ones to choose between!

I want to read Jemma's story and then also India's story!!!!!
and of course I am counting down to the new EJ duchess book due at the end of the month!

I started Sarina Bowen's Hard Hitter last night. I had my doubts about O'Doul as a hero, but I should have trusted Bowen. It's good stuff. and seems to be reading-slump-proof. (Knock on wood.)

Love the book cover...that premise sounds good.

So far, so good. I like O'Doul and I like revisiting old friends from the Ivy Years series.
I stumbled upon a Christmas anthology of American Historicals with one of my favorite authors in it - Donna Thorland. If that's your thing, you should check it out. I've read 2 out of the 4 stories already. The first one by Holly Bush, INTO THE EVERMORE, was good and MIRACLE ON LADIES' MILE by Joanna Shupe set in the gilded age is my favorite so far. I haven't even gotten to Donna's story yet, but if hers is half as good as her full length historicals I'll have considered this a good buy! The name of the book is CHRISTMAS IN AMERICA: HISTORICAL ROMANCE ANTHOLOGY.

I then read Garnet's Story by Amy Ewing - A Novella in the lone city series on my Kindle.
I have then read Beauty and The Beast by Jenni James on my kindle.
I have also picked up The Taxidermist's Daughter by Kate Mosse (Library book) and I am about 130 pages into it and I am enjoying it so far.
I might pick up another book to read alongside it as well

Finished it last night and loved it even more than Rookie Move. I like the way she's working the same world as the Ivy Years, but O'Doul made this book for me. I wasn't crazy about him in the first book, but getting inside his head won me over. Great way to start out the reading year!

Gallant Waif and Tallie's Knight are both in e-book.
I liked the new Bowen a lot but don't like the massive coincidence the plot is based on.

I liked it a lot too, Manda. I really liked Patrick way more than I thought I would considering the opinion I had of him from ROOKIE MOVE. I didn't really have a problem with the plot, Deb. I'm really bummed we have to wait until May for Lauren and Mike's story and even longer for Nate and Becca! I'm very excited that Jess and Blake's story from her WAGS series will be out at the end of January, though. This lady is seriously prolific!

I'm loving the Brooklyn Bruisers series and I can't wait for Nate and Becca's story. I've got Good Boy ARC sitting on my kindle ready to go. Can't wait to start it. :-)
Jealous Stacey!!!! ;)
Irish, she really is prolific. Her output is amazing. And that her books are so consistently good makes me kind of hate her. (In a jealous writer way!)
Deb, coincidence doesn’t really bother me. I already suspend dosbelief by accepting that a hockey team is filled with a bunch of great guys who seem to have all their teeth!
Also, Irish, I need to get that anthology. O love Donna Thorland.

Exactly Manda!! I feel bad that I think it's unrealistic to think these guys could be that sweet. I loved O'Doul especially when he gives her the massage.
When I get some time, I'm hoping to read the Ivy Years series. I've bought them, just haven't had time to read them.
NEW YEAR RESOLUTION - READ WHAT I'VE GOT AND CUT BACK ON ARC'S!! Ha, ha, ha...we'll see how long this lasts ;-)

I was thinking the same thing, Stacey... except mine was read what I've got and stop purchasing more! These $0.99 and $1.99 deals are killing me! LOL

I know. I have bought way too many in the last couple of weeks. I hate that I haven't got time to read them straight away. I've read 6 ARC's for January and I have 6 more to go for the month. Thankfully February is a lot quieter...and I plan to keep it that way. :-)
I don't know why that particular coincidence sticks in my throat. Maybe because it sets up a weird and unnecessary accusation from the heroine. She could have gotten legitimately angry about what he had done without the connection. I really love Bowen's books, i enjoyed seeing a bit of Corey and Adam, who are one of my favorite contemporary couples, and I also like that while the sex scenes are steamy she didn't take the cheap route and play up the heroine's yoga flexibility. But that coincidence bugged me.
(Also, I am not sure they do have all their teeth. Modern dentistry can cope with that and Bowen is realistic about the toll that hockey takes on their bodies--it's one of the things I admire. )
