Dominique Kyle (dominiquekyle) I have a free Amazon KDP e-book giveaway scheduled. Is there any way of letting Goodread members know about it? (I am a UK author so can't try the paid 100 book giveaway method that is currently being tested).

Loretta (lorettalivingstone) | 108 comments You can create an event and invite your GR friends. You could also check the groups you are in. Many of them have places to post about free ebooks, although most of them seem to prefer you wait until the freebie is live before posting. I hope that helps.

In fact, I've just taken a look at your profile and see you have no friends here yet. It's always a good thing to make friends - there are groups for newbies. And you'll find people will be more interested in your books if they feel you are interested in them too and not just trying to find new readers.

Dominique Kyle (dominiquekyle) Yes I am extremely new to Goodreads so haven't had a chance to build my bookshelves etc and haven't worked out yet what the acceptable way is to make 'friends' on a virtual forum with complete strangers! The scheduled e-book giveaway is co-incidental to my recent joining of Goodreads (ie. not the reason) but it seemed a shame to not give members a chance to know it was going to be on. I perfectly understand if it's not the 'done thing' for a new person to do this...

Loretta (lorettalivingstone) | 108 comments You can still do it - it's worth a shot. But you'll need to join a few groups where you can post it. You can still pick up a few readers that way, even if people don't know you yet.

And, I know it's a bit daunting trying to start up convos with strangers. I'll see if I can find you a couple of links.

There's a couple to start you off. If you click on the 'community' button at the top of the page, I'm sure you can find some other groups. Don't make the mistake I did - joining way too many and not quite managing to connect with anyone. Good luck.

PS Feel free to send me a friend request, if you'd like. :-)
