Good one! Love her as a character, but another one that in the real world I am not so sure I would want to know her - 1) I am awkward, she's a different variety of awkward, the ensuing silences would probably bother me more than her 2) I would be in constant fear of upsetting her in some way (I know her particular brand of wrath was only exacted on those that truly deserved it, but just the same, catch her on a bad day and... who knows).

Stef Rozitis | 1 comments Two of my favourites....

Keladry of Mindelan from Tamora Pierce's Protector of the Small series

and Elspeth Gordie from Isobelle Carmody's Obernewtyn series.

The latter is more sophisticated writing but both have something to offer

message 106: by The Book Crusader (new)

The Book Crusader (thebookcrusader) Tommy Oliver, better known as the green ranger, and then the white ranger, and then the red ranger, and then another red ranger, followed by a long hiatus before coming back as the first red ranger, and then another hiatus before becoming the black ranger, and ending it all by becoming the green ranger one last time.

annesofie (ananasofie) | 204 comments Noah / I'll Give You the Sun
Werner / All the Light We Cannot See
Gansey / The Raven Cycle
Ronan / The Raven Cycle

I guess the golden trio + Fred & George from Harry Potter too, but it's been years since my last time reading the series so I don't know if it counts. I'm gonna do a reread soon tho.

I LOVE Sandor Clegane! He's definitely one of my favourite characters from the series. Is it really weird that I find him kind of sexy?

message 112: by Ailbhe (new)

Ailbhe | 8 comments Bilbo Baggins from the Hobbit. His appearances in The Lord of the Rings bring me such joy (and his ending is so bittersweet). He got me through some bad times. Forever my favourite.

Others:
Morpheus/Dream- The Sandman
Sirius Black- Harry Potter
Honestly nearly every good character in LOTR

Mystic Orange (Rumell) (rkrespectedmember) | 1012 comments Does this include TV Show characters?

I think Tecna from Winx Club is a relatable character. We sre both obsessed with science and technology. We're both smart and logical. We both find it difficult to express our emotions.

message 124: by Alyda (new)

Alyda | 23 comments My favorite fictional character of all time, out of any media, is Fitzchivalry Farseer from Robin Hobb's realm of the elderlings books- especially the Fitz and the Fool trilogy.

I relate more to Fitz than any other character I've read/watched. Hobb is amazing at writing flawed, yet virtuous characters that feel nuanced and human, and it always helped that Fitz and I have very similar introspective, idealistic personalities. After reading nine books about the guy and watching him grow up from age 6 to age 60, I really grew to love him- as if he were a close friend or family member. I could probably write a book on how awesome Robin Hobb's characters are, but I'd probably be better off just recommending her books :)

Otherwise, my 2nd favorites would be Hayao Miyazaki's protagonists Ashitaka and Nausicaa. They're both selfless, humble, and compassionate peacemakers with a lot of hope and love for humanity despite all the hardships they face. They're fierce, brave, and won't hesitate to do what they must- no matter how difficult or painful it might be. Yet they're not inhuman, but cry and despair like anyone else when they lose everything. Pretty much all my favorite traits in one character.

Also really like these:
Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop)
Faye Valentine (Cowboy Bebop)
Orual (Till We Have Faces)
Kaladin Stormblessed (The Way of Kings)
Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 ver)
Vin (The Mistborn Trilogy)
